Anybody catch the "Battlestar Galactica: The Lowdown" on the SciFi Channel last night?

Finally, we got to see the new Galactica up closeand personal, and she is SWEEEET!

If you didn't see her, she still retains the overall shape, but that's about it. She's bigger, darker and meaner lookin' than her predecessor!

Also saw new Viper and Cylons (which are much more deadly looking too).

The last ship from the old series, the Basestar, was not even mentioned. I fear that it may not be in the new miniseries, but I'm keeping my hopes up!

Can't wait to see her in all her glory on December 8!

You are right about the ships. I've seen little snippets of the new Vipers and the Galactica. They look excellent. But, I'm sure many will agree, why try to improve on perfection? The original Viper & Galactica were so awesome, that they are still some of the best looking ships I've ever seen. Even the Cylon ships were cool. Plus, I know what the story line is for this new Galactica, and I'm not too pleased. But, that is only my opinion.

I dont like how they made the Galactica meaner. But the vipers look sweet.

I think I saw a Basestar before one of the commercial breaks. It was launching the new radiers like the alien ships in Independece Day did (out of bays in the sides). But instead of two saucers it looked like one big cookie.

The only thing I don't like so far is the new Baltar. He dosen't even look intimidating.

The Galactica and the new robotic Cylons were cool looking, can't wait to see them in action.

What, it can only carry 40 vipers? The original Battlestar was 76. Kind of a downgrade, no?

I'll say. At 4500 ft long it should have at least 200 ftrs. BS Galactica is at least 8 times bigger than a Nimitz class Carrier so WTF?

apparently there was some talk some time ago at the old ADB BBS about adding fighter pontoons to Hydran ships to give them extra carrying capacity. it slows them down and decreases their manuverability some, though.

i found this at Mike Raper's Starfleet Battles Page. he took that thought and whipped up an SSD for a modified Ranger class cruiser (it seems) and calls it the Galleon Pontoon Carrier. what does this have to do with Battlestar Galactica? take a look at the basic outline of the ship in the SSD and see for yourself.

funny thing - the Galactica is armed with four main guns in the forward section, and the Ranger class which serves as the basis for the Galleon has four fusion beams mounted in the front. coincidence, yeah, but still cool.

it would be really nifty if Desty Nova or someone would whip up a model to go with his SFB Hydrans.

Well, now that's better!

Guess it just took a little bit of time for folks to notice. I watched the SciFi special and awed at the new designs. The Cylon Raiders and Vipers look great!

I like the new Galactica mostly, but want to see more shots come Monday night to really judge her.

But in any case, we've got a whole bunch of new ships to put in SFC! (hint to all modelers!)
