Spike TV's Video Game Awards
Event Date December 04, 2003
Start Time 9:00 PM
Type of Event Awards Ceremony
Event Description This unprecedented, non-traditional awards show premieres on Spike TV on Thursday, December 4 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

All viewers and video game fans are encouraged to visit Spike TV's website at www.spiketv.com and cast their votes for their favorite video games including "viewer's choice" categories. All nominees and winners of Spike TV's "VGAs" are tallied from gaming industry experts, public opinion via Spike TV's website (www.spiketv.com) and Spike TV's editorial board.

It's "Game Over" for traditional awards shows when Spike TV presents the first annual "Video Game Awards" (VGAs). Celebrating the many accomplishments of the past year in video 'gamedom,' while also looking to the future of games in 2004, the "VGAs" will feature no podiums, no presenters and no acceptance speeches. The show will unfold in a futuristic setting that's part "next-century Tokyo" and part "Minority Report" that will seamlessly blend real and animated worlds into a dynamic awards show presentation.

Spike TV's first annual Video Game Awards will tape at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Tuesday, December 2. Complimentary tickets will be available on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Noon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office. Tickets are limited to four (4) per person. Wristband distribution will begin on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 8 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. A random number will then be drawn and a line-up will be in sequential order beginning with the random number selected. Individuals must be at least 16 years of age to receive a wristband and wristband guidelines will be provided upon receipt. A wristband does not guarantee that a ticket can be obtained. "VGAs" are open to fans of all ages and show content is subject to parental discretion.

Hm, it seems the selection of games is rather limited... you have a write-in ballot but that doesn't help much.
