I was Army ('86-'88), but it's all pretty much the same...do what they tell ya and don't let the mind games get to ya.

Well, I was in the Navy, so they pretty-much all worked for me...

I was also in the Navy Excellant travel opportunities. Great food, Great pay, Not just a job an adventure.
Well I joined right out of HS so the remarkably poor pay was great for me i had no worries and was out to sea so much i couldn't spen it all anyway. saved for college and now I really do get payed well. My advice to everyone is get a degree first so you don't have to scrub toilets and dig latrines for four years. And all that heroic stuff you see on TV with John Wayne and the like is not what really happens. Go in with a little bit of caution and very few expectations and you will be fine. Its not safe to be an American soldier right now.

The marines are a good group of guys for the most part. I had just as many marine friends as Squids, but it's tough just to get through boot camp. And your mindset has to be very much marine....... You can be a good marine if you try but i still think that as an officer, you're better off. College is much easier than boot camp. and once you finish OTC you don't have to get your hands dirty.
