I remember you posting about you are finally getting your Social Security Disability? I was reading their online blue book and I do not see how they gave you a hard time the first time you tried to get through the system, you qualify all across the board!

If you do not mind me asking, from day one you applied how long did it take them to make a decision? I read anywhere from 90-120 days, but that is not what I heard from some disabled vets I know. I should have worked on this earlier, the web site was so much more informative on what documents I need to provide than the office I visited in Temple, all they did was shove a packet from hell at me and say fill it out. Yeah right, like I remember every single time I was in hospital or under treatment, and the names of all the doctors involved? I got a lot of work to do on this one, including visiting a civ hospital in Austin, plus go to VA and wait for two weeks for those records (they can print the stuff up but if you have psych ailments as well it has to be forwarded to Waco for approval from the dept. chief. Looks like I'll be going more crazy running around doing this than I am now, hehehehehe.

In all seriousness though, VA has their [bleep] more together than Social Security, at least with them I only filled out one page and submitted it to them for the unemployability program after a VA rep was kind enough to submit my 70 percent without me even knowing about it or asking for it.  Social Security should have a form that allows them to get with VA and do it all in one single stroke. Hell, VA even has evidence of my transfer from St. David's ICU to their facility, yet SS wants all this stuff separate and jumbled all nicely into one packet, and don't forget, even with the copies of the health records and stuff, to fill out the application that is the size of a small book.

BTW Ann, I'm going to need glasses from reading all of my typing when we type and then have to look for typos on these forums, hehehehe... Shouldn't corrections be made out the same size as the original post?

Hmm, I'm trying to recall when we initially filed for SSI for her. I know she got out of the Hospital on July 30 of this year, after having her Breakdown, and It was about 2 weeks after that we filed, so Let's say August 15th or so. This of course after we had applied and looked into every other avenue.

Anyway, she finally got approval Back dating her Medical Disability from April 1st, after they had concluded her Problems had At least reamanifested around then. The aproval was around a week ago I guess, and the only thing we are waiting on is the Financial Part of SSI stating how much she will make.

as I understand It the Medical Part is the hardest to get approval for, But luckily , the doctors where all pulling for her.  The sad thing is, she's happy when she's working, But she will never be able to hold down a job again.

Please feel free to ask more If this doesn't explain everything Jack.

You explained everything Steve, thanks man, it fits into the 90 day to 120 day countdown they posted on their site. What kills me is one of the questions is "When did you marry your first spouse?" Hell, I do not know, I tried for years to forget her and finally did it! The other question is "When did you divorce?" Again, what do these people think? That I keep those certificates and court decrees framed on the living room wall? Jeeeeeez, this is gonna make me blow... By the time I get into med review, I'll be certifiably insane because of them and their pathetic questions.

You know Jack, You really need to take some time off from life, and just come up here to Relax, and not worry about things man. I know that you know about the standing invitation, But you really need a break. and Heck everyone else here in the house is crazy but me, so why not another Friend to the mix.

Seriously, It is very stressing doing all the paperwork, and some of the questions just don't make since. like those you mentioned. the only relevant part to them was that It showed a history of my wife having Mental Problems that I was unaware of.

As always, Take Care Bro.

I have a "wherzit" chest. It used to be a drawer, but it was over stuffed, so I put everything I think I may one day need into an old cedar chest. Its exclusively for paper that I may one day need. At least I dont have to hunt all over the house for what Im looking for.  Deeds, contracts, diplomas, etc. all go into the wherzit pit.

Hey Stephen, did SSA look at your wife's documentation and see what the first date of all the complications was? They are like VA, they HAVE to backdate it to the first day that she was considered disabled by a certified medical authority. If you want some interesting reading, read the SSA website and definitions of medical problems they use for their criteria of what defines disabled.

Hopefully this helps you and Denise get some more money, it's in the budget you know... Get it while it's there, who knows what will happen to it in another 20-40 years...
