I'll accept that rule, ST2 was THE star trek movie in my book. Aliens rocked the house. As with all continuations, some come out like doo-doo (ST5 ring a bell?).

where they went wrong was trying to make the matrix into something as epic as starwars.
The first film ended the story. thats it there should be no sequel. neo is the one and controls the matrix and noone can stop him. the end. leave it to the imagination to decide what happens next.

the 2nd and 3rd films just smell of "ooooh the first one made a fortune lets find a way to make more" expecially with the whole animatrix, enter the matrix movie bits. i.e. youu have to play enter the matrix to find out what the hell ghost and niobi were doing there.
They took an entertaining action flick (and it was nothing more than an entertaining action flick pieced together from a bunch of different sci-fi books) and tried ever so hard to make it into something it isn't. trying to give it any kind of depth but failing at the point where it started to sound like an episode of the next gen. "you have choices and decisions which you have already made even though you may choose not to make them and oh yea there are concequences related to your choices which are relative to the effect that they have on your decisions oh and by the way i really dont have a clue what im trying to put across in this film but it sure does sound impressive"
the story was further bolloxed up by trying to introduce something more powerful than neo "ah crap hes invincible in the matrix so we need to invent a new evil guy how about the twins? nah too white this films all about black coolness, ok the poncy french guy? nah to camp and his scene is crap anyway but if we cut him then we are left with a bunch of fancy special effects and nothing else (not including morpheous' truck fight which we had to film using really old 70's style blue screen tech cause we were too shagged out from making the first scene) humm yea i know lets bring back the agent he killed in the last one!! yea that will have everyone wondering why hes back and make it seem super deep!!!!"

then in the 3rd film they hit rock bottom in the ideas department and remade the lobby scene from the first film "umm they liked the lobby right??? well do that again we can't go wrong BUT lets put the "vampires that die from silver bullets" on the celling instead and drop the whole vampire thing or not". then they went for went for a big stompy robot fight with some guy strapped into a big stompy robot screaming at the squids for 20 min "arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh ph33r m3!!!!!!!!!" either the recoil on those guns really hurts or he had flipped after being made to act in such a piss poor film. and neo became a weird half machine half human thing but i stopped caring beyond that point cause my brain was still sighing after listening to "arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh" for 20 min.

I know this isnt making alot of sense but there are so many things i hated about the two parter that i'd be here for hours trying to write them all down in a clear way. its much easier to ramble.

Well I liked it....the wife hated it...she took me out for my birthday to see it...

And I quote   "..that was a waste of time...I mean it was ok...but if it were up to me ..I wouldnt have wasted the time to see it..."

I smiled and said... "thankfully....it was not up to you"

She punched my arm.....heh heh

Speak for yourself JMM.

Me and the old man have better sex now. Then the first day we met.

While I understand people's disappointment with the third movie, you gotta remember something, NO MOVIE SEQUEL IS LIKE THE FIRST ONE. Sort of like sex, ya know?
