A few days ago WZ was joking with me about updating/redesigning the beautiful Galaxy-Class...and I said to myself, "Now that's a challenge"...so here it is

most excellent bubba !! Just one little tinny suggestion ... make the saucer a little larger.. to keep its proportion balanced.. other wise I completely agree with everyone !!

That is one darn good redesign there Atolm, pity there no view of the underside *hint* *hint*

Some suggestions I have, perhaps add phaser strips on the struts and on the side under the nacelle like the original, perhaps make these strips longer for added strength? Also maybe add a quantum torpedo launcher like the sovy, theres definately more sweet spots for my weapon placings

But again nice design mate, well done *wonders what underside would look like*

sorry but why remaking the best Enterprise design ever there with that stupid Sovereign bridgesection ???
the good old Galaxy is and was the best ship design for an Enterprise that has ever been there, why must everey one redo the oldder styles with thos s*** new style parts ???

Well, you do have a point Terradyhne, I'm not a big fan of copying all these new part sections from Soverign models, but you got to admit that is still a VERY nice design. I wish they should have designed the soverign similar to this design concept personally. Would have simularites to the Galaxy Class.

Yes but then there would have been no point in the Sovereign and everyone would have complained it was a rip-off with no originality. Quite frankly I hated the Galaxy class when I first saw for quite a few years and it only grew on me in the last years of TNG. OTOH the first time I saw the Sovereign I loved it - a return to the mechanical, human look of the TMP aesthetic mixed with the organic round shapes of the TNG aesthetic, it worked very well I thought.

The TMP constitution was the best Enterprise ever BTW.

I think you're really on to something great here, Azel!

Your interpretation of the Galaxy Class looks like a more advanced/evolved version that would be a more "realistic" replacement for the Enterprise D.

I would really like to see this ship leave drydock after the Galaxy Class nears the end of its design lifetime, somewhere circa 2460....

Oh yeah, and she's a LOT bigger than her predecessor, a true voyager that goes on loooong missions with a multimission platform requiring a crew of thousands.

Yeah, I'm gettin' carried away here...
