TNG Mod for OP single file download being assembled!

Mackie asked me to do this ,and I had been wanting to, so I am assembling the big TNG Mod for OP into 1 huge download..

Here's the read me..

WELCOME TO THE TNG MOD FOR OP 2002, updated to include the original files for the latest patch 2550.

The Ultimate TNG Experience for Orion Pirates. This is a self extracting file that will detect where OP is on your PC. Races will be selectable by name -- here's a part of the aastrings.txt file to show what's in here.

This Mod uses batch files to activate the mod. TNGFull.bat will be on your desktop, as will OP 2550  - which brings your game back to 2550.

THERE ARE SIX MISSIONS INCLUDED HERE, SCRIPTED BY CENTAURI VAUGHN for This Mod!!!


AND BOY ARE THEY FUN! (The missions will be copied into assets\scripts when you install this update.)


1. Yesterday's Enterprise - Federation Mission that follows that episode's events almost to the letter!
2. Tomorrow's Enterprise - YE from the other end of the temporal rift (Romulan Mission)
3. Into Dominion - Federation Mission that has the Feds in an uneasy alliance with Romulans - features the USS Defiant.
4. Dark Horizon - This one is special. You can play this from any race's interface. The mission has several objectives
   that are stated as you start the mission. You are a Borg Cube - random Fed, Klingon, or Romulan enemies.
   This requires installation of new audio (included in the download)


above are single player..

There are two multiplayer missions as well! tested and approved!

1. Dominion Wars  - the Dominion vs. a random opponent  Team A is random opponent - B is Dominion
2. Random Borg Assault. This comes with a customizer, much like Co-op Ace, so you can select the number and
   type of Borg ships to go up against, and the level of the AI. This mission here makes the mod really shine,
   what with the new audio, The TNG audio already there, and the current enhanced graphics.. WOW!!
   
   The Borg Assault Customizer (Called Borg Assault 2) install will be in your game's main directory upon download of this update.
   It's an MSI file that you will need to run -- You will get a shortcut to the Customizer- called the Sector Wolf 359 Borg Assimilator,
   in your Start menu programs upon installation of the Customizer.  
   
   

These missions put a whole new spin on the TNG Mod for OP.

The missions use some new models put together by Centauri Vaughn and some of the models I already have in the mod.

There is new audio that will get copied to a directory called Voice when you install the update.
Using the audio install instructions in this readme, put those sounds into the sfcvoice.zip file.

The regular mod (now using the TNGFull batch file) gets a model update as well and here's what's included..

THIS AUDIO IS REQUIRED, OR SOME OF THE SOUNDS/VOICES WILL NOT WORK.

AUDIO

IMPORTANT:
Make a backup of the sounds.txt file that is in your assets\sound directory, although one is included in the specs download. Just to be safe. Also make backups of the SFCSounds and SFCVoice ZIP files. Just in case.

You need to have WINZIP installed on your computer to do this next part.

1. Audio is in your game directory in 2 files, sound and voice.

2. Open Winzip, and open the archive, C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\Assets\Sound\SFCSounds.zip
3. Once you see a lot of wav files in Winzip, click on Add.

4. A dialogue box appears, browse to the directory c:\sounds and make sure it says *.* in the file name area. Also -- In the Action box, make sure it says, ?Add (and replace) files.

5. MAKE SURE THE COMPRESSION RATIO IS SET TO "NONE". IF you don't do this, the sounds won't work, and if you didn't make a backup of the sfcsounds.zip - NO SOUND..

FOLLOW THE EXACT SAME PROCEDURE FOR THE VOICES, only browse to the directory c:\voices, and open the archive C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\Assets\Sound\SFCVoice.zip

6. Click "Ok", WinZip adds to and updates the archive.

7. Run the TNG batch file - all set!

Thanks to TNG-B-SFETAZ and REIGN1701A for the original sounds.

I modified a few of the sounds myself.

Pay close attention to the above instructions!

HERE'S SOME FUN!

THERE IS A MULTIPLAYER RANDOM CUSTOMIZER FOR THIS MOD!!

I have taken the Defiant into the Badlands to engage several Maquis Raiders.

I have been to the Veridian System in a Venture Class Galaxy re-fit with an Akira and a Nova as escorts..

We met up with a fleet of Jem Hadar, Cardassians, and Breen.

A Glorious Battle.

Centauri Vaughn is the scripter here.. I gave him a list of what races were replaced and with what for the OP Mod.. and he went to town..

Keep in mind that this will work with any shiplist but it is strictly intended for Chris Jones TNG Package for OP.

I have played about 9 games using different settings.
This is a lot of fun!
There is so much packed into CJ's TNG OP MOD that you never know what to expect next.
I'm sure this gets better with more team players.
It is such a pleasure to script missions for CJ's mod.
I can't wait to see what he is going to bring us for SFC3.

 Chris Jones' mods are the ultimate working archive...

This is GREAT if you are a big TNG fan. So, what about us TMP Era players? TMP era needs a NEW Chris Jones mod as there have been a ton of cool TMP ships made available since the last Chris Jones TMP mod two years ago...

I myself have been working on [and banging my head on] replacing the Dominion models with ISC, Cardassian with Klingon Academy Tholian models as well as a few by Terradyne and Hollis J. Wood (I retextured these with KA textures) and the Borg with Andromedan for Centauri Vaughn's missions.

TOMORROW'S ENTERPRISE will be so cool when a super HIGH POLY MELAK is actually made. YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE is really cool with WZ45's Ulysses (E-D) and Lexington (E-C)  with K' Teremny (Cleeve), Unseen Creepr (P81) and SuvwI' Qeh (WZ45) in it. I've been using the USS Phobos/Loknar Refit (Fabio/Lt. Riley/Makotokat) as the Defiant in the INTO THE DOMINION script but it crashes at the end when I get to DS9 (Moonraker's Starbase) and beat the ISC BB (Thulls).

Other ideas I have include using most of the kitbashes of P81's USS Explorer as the main bulk of the Mirror Universe Imperial warfleet including the Akula FDX and the USS EXCALIBUR as the Imperial FCX.  I figure the Imperials have a more uniform fleet design than the hodge-podge designs in the Federation fleet.

I expect to D/l the TNG mod anyway. As it is always worth the d/l time.

This is, of course, nothing but good.  Just one request tho'.  Are there any hosting options other than 3ddownloads?  The single file DL for the Megamod is appreciated, but is unreachable to dial-ups.  I am intrepid and have downloaded the mightiest mod by phone, but 3ddownloads does not support download continues, nor do they offer a CD burn option.   I am sure that I am not the only dial-up hoping to pick up the updated mod.  Please?

KF: - I look forward to the TMP version and thanks. There's also that multi-era OP mod sitting on my hard drive. It needs so much work I wish I could hire people to help with it. Your passion for the TMP era equals my passion for TNG, so I know yours will be awesome.

HI DON!

Kestrel  - I hear you - 3D has unlimited space so for that reason it's a good choice. The file size on this one will make my SFC3 Mod look small, lol. I will look at other options, including my friends at Frost-Works.

HOLY COW!!!  What a mode!  I play SFC3 a lot (among playing tons with SFC OP and SFC1), but to be honest, I prefer a lot of the old SFB style rules a little bit more then the SFC3 rules.  Your mode for TNG looks great.

But the unfortunete part for me about this is that I'm only a dialup.  Are you planning to make it freindly to the dialups aswell?  I can live with out the models (I make my own anyways or could use the TNG models from SFC3).  That could significantly help reduce the size for us Modem users.

I also hear you Magnum.

  I'd like to explain my philosophy on mods.

  My first goal is to have fun, which is why we play games in the first place. The TNG Mod for OP was a labour of love for most of the year 2002. My mods are loosely based on canon Trek, and I did not play any SFB, so I'm an ignoramus when it comes to that ruleset. What Magnum is saying, I think, is that he'd like to see the shiplists from the mod with stock models in thier place. That's actually not a bad idea, because we'd have some really powerful TMP era ships that would be fun. A Fed CA with Quantum torpedoes, lol. I shall consider it.

I just ran a properties function on the directory I have set up for this big file to see how big it is unzipped.

1.57 Gig.

The mod is currently on my site in smaller chunks - 6 parts, but it is not current in that the original files included with it are from patch 2538. I could simply issue an update to that part and leave it alone, but I wanted to do some updating of the shiplist, and take care of a few ??? .  I think I was inspired to want to do this by a few things.

1. I recently consolidated the SFC3 TNG Mega Mod into one file.
2. Mackie posted in my Frost-Works forum asking for it.
3. It has been in the back of my mind anyway.
4. David Ferrell and his tireless dedication to SFCOP
5. The desire to update and tweak this mod for 2550.

With any luck at all I'll get this baby done for an early Christmas present..

I'll include that wonderful Nemesis Sovereign Class that Dark Matrix ported from Bridge Commander, and some new audio.

The audio will not require opening Winzip to install.

Original 2552 files will be included as well so you can revert to stock OP from this mod.

The mod on my site now is 6 parts, but the links need to be fixed. I'll get to it when I can.

Also -

The shield graphics will be reduced in brightness significantly. I like the idea of seeing my weapons status and targeting recticle but not having the shield graphics distract me while in battle.

I'm adjusting arcs on a lot of ships as well.

There'll be some new Nemesis type audio...

...and the 2552 original files will be included - two batch files will be placed on your desktop to switch between the TNG Mod here and 2552 specs.  

TNG enhanced OP for sure..

Note my site now has 6 individual parts for this mod on it, and there won't be a Part 7 as a separate release. The enhancements will be available only in this big download.  I will look into dialup options as well. This download looks to be in the area of 500meg.   yup. 500. I said that, lol.

No timetable for release..

A couple of questions first maybe its to early given how late I was  or I missed something but 2 questions.  First I have 2552 and FIresouls plus. would that conflict and 2nd is it complete?  Some of the comments made me wonder a bit.

This mod will work on the same install with Firesoul's. When mine is available I'll provide instructions to make sure they work together. I have had both working - I ended up setting his up with another batch file to copy in the correct specs.

Yes - I was on MSN a few times today - CV is still around, although not doing much if anything with SFC. I'll try and catch up with you on MSN..

UPDATE UPDATE.

This TNG Mod includes the Mirror Federation in the Prime Industries slot. It is a near duplicate of the Federation lineup, with Starbases and all. (expanded from the Mirror Feds in the current release of the mod)

The Presidential Luxury Liner is way too weak, don't you think? If the President is traveling, then he needs a fortress in space. Here's what I did with that...as per Shipedit.. (it keeps the same UI)
