Texturing Azels USS Independence (A WIP)
« on: November 29, 2003, 02:55:07 pm »
Azle sent me this for the Lost Era mod, along with a "painting" guide...really helps to know what the modeler wants. Here's a lil look at what I have so far...What ya think?

Thanx!!

Wasn't sure you'd like it...there's just enough difference between the guide you sent and the actual model to make me wonder if it was ok...glad you like!!

Thanx!!

I had the original thought (I think ), but Azel and a few others have shown an interest, so we went ahead and started it. It will probably take awhile to get it going, but, going by the GaW mod, that's common. This way, when it's ready, people will be ready for a new mod.

The Roms, thanx to Azel, are done...just need to get the rest going, but that's in the works.

It's one of Azels non-canon designs. Looks to me like a natural progression of the Excelsior style.

Did a little more this morning before football...can't work during football. Anyway, here's a couple pics of what I have so far...the UFP symbol in the side of the bridge module is my idea...if you don't like, I can remove it.

Thanx!! Glad you like it.

Not really happy with the observation windows...I'll probably re-work those as I go. Probably won't be until tomorow night...had a few brewskis and texturing and brewskis don't mix, lol.

I'm trying new things out, which is fun...probably only one here using both PSP and PS for texturing, but can't get the hang of everything in PS yet. Oh well, whatever works, right?

OK, added a few windows, wanted your opinion on 'em. What size do you see her as? I was thinking halfway between the Excelsior/Ent.B and the Ambassador/Ent.C....sound good?

Well, the windows seem to vertical to me. Maybe curve the ones on the left back of the saucer to the left and the right ones to the right. The light blue color h,,,,...try a darker shade perhaps?

But the size you propose sounds good to me.

Hope that helps...

If you want to add to the mesh by cutting into the back part to make it seem more like shuttlebay doors...by all means  man
and again sorry for the mix up

Okey-dokey-smokey.

Here's a pic of the saucer...added some escape pods. Hope that's ok...wasn't clearn the design you sent me. I'll get those windows out of there...actually, I was going to ask about putting something else there, cause it didn't look right, but shuttlebays sound good. What I'll do is, throw the plans into Photoshop and highlight/circle the areas I'm not sure of and send it to you, that way you can let me know what's what.

OK, here's the pic...

Esacape pods are a great add on...I would change 2 things though....First change the color of the Escape pods to a brownish grey...or just a darker grey than the HUll...and second take out the escape pods from the bow (frontish)sides...and just keep the ones on the sides of the saucer...
Thanks Man!!!

BTW...I like the size and color of the new widows
do you think that windows could be added to the inner saucer wall on the top indent of the saucer too???

OK, here's a few shots...made the shuttlebays more square and larger, started on the bottom of the saucer and did the "new experimental deflector dish". Still need to tweak that, but wanted you to see it as it is, see if I'm going in the right direction.

Sorry it took so long to get these up...this damn flu just hangs on and on...feel like I've been hocking up crap for months.

Anyway, here's a couple looks...

Awesome....
ok now business
increase the shuttlebay doors by 50% all around
And you should be good there

Now the Deflector is the right shape...but also must be larger bay about
75% and that should work....but the gold section in between the deflector dishes
is to be 2 vertically placed photon torpedo tubes(on on top of the other)

Thanks Man

OK...was wondering about that part (the gold area)...that's an easy enough fix. 75% on the deflector...that's gonna be tough....the curve of the hull and such...but I'll work with it. The shuttle bay doors...really that big? Just seems a little big for the ship, but I'll do it up and see how it looks, maybe a side by side shot. Also, I'm working on adding the sensor array on the bottom...do you want it to be a 4 prong (cross shape), or a 6 prong (asterisk) sensor pod?

OK man...
6 should should be fine
sorry on the head ach
but that deflector size  is paramount

NP man, it's your baby, I'm just the painter!
OK, now, the deflector dish is about 50% bigger here...maybe 60% anyway, is this about right? I can work with the distortions, though I kinda like the look of it as is.

Here is the shuttlebays...if this is the size you want, I'll fiddle with the mapping and get it straightened out.

Also, notice the sensor pod...need to texture it still, but wanted your opinion...ok?
