I made this image last night to try out my new photon F/X. The pic itself was kinda thrown together just to see what the photons looked like in a scene. I'm not 100% happy with the photon F/X, so let me know what you think.

It actually looks pretty cool to me!

But I can understand how you might want it to be even better.... satisfaction with one's creation is difficult to achieve... there's always more you could've done, should have done or did differently.

Looks good...how'd you do that? I've tried to make a realistic photon, but it always look too much like a lens flare. Any help would be appreciated.

Boy, I'm striking out right and left. Sorry Atheohaven and anyone who can't see the linked pic. I forgot that you have to be registered/logged in on scifimeshes to view pics there. Scifimeshes kinda finished up my hosting options, so if you can't see it there I guess you won't. Sorry again.

@Sandman--I appreciate the kind words. As for how I did the photons, check this out: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/tutorials/SFA/photontutorial.htm . I really had to change a lot of settings to get closer to the look I wanted, but the tut really explained the Video Post effects pretty well so tweaking is pretty simple.

Thanx!! Been trying to get the tuts at scifi-meshes, but the page is being updated, so it's not up. Guess the links to the tuts will be the same, which is good news.

Thx, your photons remind of the ones used in the voyager episode called Flashback, the torpedos fired at the excelsior from the klingons were great the style you made are almost the same, different color but wonderfully done, thanks

It's so simple to change the color on the photons. Much easier than trying to get the rays set to a length I liked. I've actually shortened/broadened the rays in the final version. And I'm glad someone else can see the pic

Yes! Cool photons!

They are a favorite weapon of choice. Beautful and deadly.

I', always on the lookout for new phton textures. I do like the stock oones look and always wanted to see them in different colors, like yellow, purple, hot pink, cyan, etc.

Athereohaven has a bunch I grabbed. Would you happen to have more lying around?
