annual retorical rant
« on: November 26, 2003, 10:48:25 am »
I just wanted to say. That though i don't post very often and or reply to posts that have been put up I do browse regularly and i really like the work that is being done now by everyone. I see alot of the new guys comming in and making a splash and some of the more experienced modders really doing great work.
I could name names and the like but it would be a very long list. I just wanted to say that i am really glad this forum and this game are still around. Its a great bunch of people and an excellant hobby.

If i don't get a chance to respond to all the stuff posted here It's not that i don't like it.....
Its simply a matter of how much time i have..
Every now and then a thread that peaks my interest comes along and i post a response.
You should all know thoug that i have a ship list that includes work by nearly every one that has ever posted here from SFC 1 and on.

Don't get to discouraged if your posts don't get ten pages of responses. Sometimes just one person liking what you have done makes the whole thing work it. And since this is "art" everyone has a different oppinion about what they think is good or bad or whatever. Every viewpoint has value and its more about what you think of your own work and how you percieve others work. If you think someone has done something good try to emulate it... If you think something is DooDoo then remember that they put alot of effort into it and give unbiased and possitive constructive critique. Nobody like to here that the work they have done is unappriciated and i don't think thats what people do here. The ones on this forum are about creating a personal version of a great game not about blasting ego's and making people feel stupid.
I think its hard to get that sometimes in written form. Some times works are colder than what was intended.
but dont give up becouse of someone else. Alot of talented people have given up and not ersued the possibilities here becouse they misinterpreted a critique as being a personal attack.

thanks again for all the inspiration and great work ....

Hear, hear!!

Just remember...ultimately, you should be doing this for yourself. If you like what you have done, then take the good comments graciously, and take the bad, or not so good with a grain of salt. And, every once in a while, you'll do something that everyone loves, or will love, and one of the gurus will offer some advise on how to make it better. We all try to help if we can; sometimes what we say comes out the wrong way though, so like I said, take it with a grain of salt and keep plugging away.
