Yes, you read it, a new CoopAce has been released. This one is version "3.2" because a version "3.1" could easily be confused with the previous "3.01".
It's been a bit more than a year since the release of coopace 3.01. I've decided to browse through my old code, just because. All I can say is this: "Man, what was I smoking..".
CoopAce 3.2 shows off these new features:
* Speed improvements! Faster load times.
* Mod support directly in the OP customizer!
* Maximum difficult ratio increased from 2.00 to 3.00.
* Selectable AI enemy era.
You can download CoopAce 3.2 from these official links:
http://www.khoromag.org/taldren/scripts/coop-ace-3.2.exe http://klingon.stasis.ca/sources_and_utils/coop-ace-3.2.exe Faster? How much faster?Ok. Let's take the worst case scenario encountered with CoopAce 3.01 for OP:
- "Selected" (now known as "Mixed") races, all races turned on.
- OP+ 3.1 shiplist (big)
- all hullclasses turned on.
- Humans picked ships to generate about 1400 BPV's worth of AI enemies.
CoopAce 3.01 launched, and was in the game after about 90 seconds.
Alright. That's done. Now let's take the
same conditions, with CoopAce 3.2:
8 seconds. That's it. In fact, a normal game will take far less time than that, so all's the better.
What's new, otherwise? The customizer for EAW is pretty much the same.. but take a look at the OP Customizer for a second:
First, look on the right side. There's an Era selector there. You can now FORCE the Era the AIs will be picked from. "What's that for?" Oh. Ok, .. ever wanted to do a Advanced era battle against a whole bunch of Late era Frigates and Destroyers? Now you can.
... In fact, I've done it, it was fun. 3 XCBs VS 17 little pirannas. Weeee!
Next, here's a biggie, some Mod Support at the bottom.
First Checkbox: "X1 Support". That's mostly for OP+. Me bad, but it helps in CoopAce.
Second: When picking advanced ships, you want to fight against Advanced ships. Turn this box off, and it's going to force picking whatever's available during advanced era, including ships that introduced in previous eras. The availability is controlled from the shiplist.
Third: "Fighter Improvement". With the stock and OP+ lists, fighters on ships are always little crappy basic stock fighters. With this box on, the game will actually try to assign better fighters (picked randomly from what's available). However, some mods like Rod O'Neil's Fighters&PFs mods are set up with the fighter selection pre-chosen in the shiplist. For these mods, we want this feature to be turned off.
Anyways, I strongly recommend getting this script. It's been called a "Fleet Trainer". I call it my Lan Party, ready to go.
