Mark all posts as read
« on: November 19, 2003, 01:01:50 pm »

If you mark all posts as read in 'Cool and Refreshing' then does it also mark them all read in 'Hot and Spicy'?  It seems so.

If so, can this be changed?  I make frequent use of 'mark all posts as read' in order to indicate that I've browsed and already considered reading the topics listed.  It would be nice if each forum was independantly managed.

If not, then I must just be confused so ignore this post.

I don't normally use the mark all post's read function. Does any one else here have this Problem that Scott mentioned?

Yeah, unfortunately in "all" it really does mean "all." Since you execute this command from the main listing, and there isn't a similar command within individual forums (it's displayed at the top but really is a 'global' command like logging out), I don't think there is a way to just mark a certain category read.

I agree that this is a feature ubb should have -- but then, there are a lot of features we think ubb should have.  If anyone has any experience to another style of forum that would be superior, send a note to both myself, Takdren_Admin and Taldren_Lan. We'd be interested in your input. But it would have to be pretty good stuff to warrant a whole change -- we've just done a lot of work to get ubb upgraded.

There are a bunch of new features coming into UBB 6.4 -- I'm not sure this is one of them, but I think all you forumsters have something to look forward to when it comes out of beta.  =)  They're getting better about usability by the day, it seems.

Actually, I am on a number of other forums and I don't like any of them (in terms of navigation, look and feel, and functionality) as much as this one.

I had just wondered if it was a side-effect of the Great Off Topic Fracturing or some such.

I have to concur with Scott. This forum is very intuitive, user friendly.

Even with the forum fracture I haven't yet found a forum as pleasing to the eyes and user friendly as this one.   It one of the reason I'm still here despite what's been going on with the seemingly ever shrinking community.
