PEOPLE, FIX YOU AVATARS AND BROKEN IMAGE LINKS!!!
« on: November 18, 2003, 11:09:49 am »
Okay, this is just getting SLOPPY. I am seeing alot of missing avatars, broken URL and image links with alot of posters. Clean them up, it's starting to look trashy in the threads.

Huh? Who?
I'm not noticing this. Are you sure you're just not having DNS probs?

I didn't notice it untill I cleared out most of my cached files. Then everywhere there are broken image links. In my other browser, it still has most of them cached and they look fine.

Now this is weird, IE cannot find these links but Mozilla still does. I tried this link in both browsers, and IE failed.

As far as the avatars the ones that I don't see including my own are the stock avatars provided by Taldren.

I don't, but then I'm using IE.  That's kind of odd actually.

Me too. When I cleared my cache, they all disappeared. Mozilla still has them.

Okay, why is it Mozilla can find them directly via that image link, but when I paste the same link into IE, it bombs out? Needless to say I despise IE, but the way it's integrated into Windows, it's hard not to use. I always believed that Windows keeps a large portion of IE cached at all times so it ALWAYS launches faster than other browsers.

In IE try the following.  Select the space where the image should be.  Right click the selected space and choose show image.  The image should then download and be visible.  Next time you refresh the image should be loaded properly.

I just had that work in IE 5.xx under Win98SE.  Didn't need to do it on my main machine with Win2kPro and Netscape 7.1.

Nope, no good. IE for some reason cannot find the images, Mozilla still can.

That's it, I'm suing MS for emotitonal distress!

Odd, I was seeing that fine at home, and get a little red x at work. Both using IE.
