Music in SFC3

I turned off the music for the longest time in SFC3 as it tended to distract me.  I turned it back on recently and I just realized why it was so distracting.  One of the trumpets is playing extremely flat.  Now that I've figured this out, it's even more distracting.  When two or three trumpets play at once, the flat one makes it a nails-on-chalkboard experience.

I'm wondering a) if anyone else has noticed this and b) who did the music for the game?  Was it stock Trek music previously recorded for episodes and/or movies, or was it custom recorded for the game?
