Activision Second Quarter Results Cause Cancellations
Officials from Activision have announced financial results for the second quarter and the six-month period ended September 30. For the second quarter net revenues were $117.5 million, compared to $169.2 million in the previous year and the net loss was $10.1 million or a loss of $0.11 per share ? this compares to a net income of $9.1 million or $0.08 per diluted share at the same time last year.

For the six-month period net revenues were down from $360.4 million to $276.2 million and a net loss was posted of $5.9 million, or $0.07 per share, compared to a net income of $29.8 million or $0.28 per diluted share last year.

A significantly smaller release schedule was blamed for the relatively weak results, although the company?s answer to this was to immediately cancel three multiformat titles, namely Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder 2, Street Hoops 2, and Trinity. It was also announced that Doom 3 would not be released until after the end of the financial year in April 2004.

Third quarter results are expected to be significantly better though, with the release of heavily hyped titles such as Call of Duty, True Crime: Streets of LA and Tony Hawk?s Underground. The company has raised its forecasts for this period to $390 million or $0.45 per diluted share. The outlook for the full financial year, despite the delay of Doom 3, has also been raised from $750 million to $780 million.

Delay Doom 3?

Again, I smell fish rotting on the docks...

btw, I know it's petty to say it, but what the hey all of us have our petty moments:  Nanner, neener neener neener, I told you so.  }~

Best,
Jerry

Wonder what the hold up is for Doom 3. By the time they get it out, it's graphics won't be anything special. Why in the hell are they holding it back another year???

Seriously, ATVI is really starting to piss me off to the point I think D3 will be the last game I will get from them. They already screwed up SFC3 enough. I cannot believe it's been a whole damn year since SFC3 was released and still no official patch approved by them.

Most definately...except I goofed, I bought Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy...but otherwise...definately.

Oops, and forgot to Add, also bought Empires, but I think after that I might be okay...still like activision myself though...for some odd reason.

Have you seen the ad for their latest skater game? Reminds me of their beach volleyball thingy from last year... I am convinced that actiwision has a division that produces games for shops with frosted windows...  You'd only have to go rent a few and compare the game structures and credits to their openly sold soft porn games (volleyball, skater, trek) and I'm sure you'd find actiwision's "porn pseudonym" if you will...

Who could pass up JA?  It was well done.  We can thank Raven and Lucasarts for that.

I think it's best if Doom 3 IS delayed until it's as bug free as they can get it. Look at what happened to SFC2 and SFC3 because of some schmucks in suits said these titles needed to be out NOW in time for Christmas (and the release of "ST:Nemesis") and pressed Taldren into releasing unfinished products. Let them get it right. Would you rather have a bug-ridden game, or one that's almost guaranteed to work?

Ok guys...Here it is and here are the fixes..maybe now we can play online together now Talon claw and other JA players:

Multiplayer:

Correct an issue that caused Internet servers to time-out too early on the master server list.

Correct an issue that caused various movement sounds not to play consistently (footsteps, rolling, etc...)

Correct various exploits, including one that allows for illegal character models.

Correct an issue that occurred when disabling the second saber icon that appears over the player's head.

Correct an issue that allowed the rocket launcher to lock on after death.

Correct an issue that prevents the camera shake when you are hit by an explosive.

Correct the roll animation.
Single Player:

Correct an issue that allowed a player to select a force power that is already at the maximum setting.

Correct an animation issue that occurred when enemies force push you while executing a special move.

Correct various rag-doll issues.

Correct an issue that caused your skill level to reset when resetting defaults in the game.

Correct an issue that prevented the Single Player game from starting.
