Topic: How do you win with the new patch?

I have Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates. What does it look like when you win the game in conquest mode? I played the game as the Romulans with patch 2.5.4.12 and beat all my enemies in conquest mode. The only empires left were my allies which were the Lyrans, the Klingons, and the ISC. I was unable to change the ownership of pirate hexes. Are you supposed to get a screen that says you have won the game in conquest mode? I spent 700 missions in that campaign before giving up and patching to the next patch.

I remember a year ago when I first bought the game I saw a screen that showed that the Beast Raiders Cartel had been eliminated. I did not see any screens telling me I had eliminated any of the empires. The Federation, the Gorn, the Hydran, and the Mirak were completely eliminated from the hex map after 647 missions. I think I beat the Federation after the 315th mission. I then hunted down every blue ship icon on the map for about 100 missions. After about 37 missions the blue ship icons on the map were all Orion pirates. I even went as far as  trying to eliminate all the neutral hexes on the empire map. The highest the neutral hexes got was three hexes before I gave up trying to change all of them. Those last three were in the Lyran region, in the Romulan region, and in the ISC region. When I gave up and patched I played as a pirate cartel and eliminated every Orion-Orion (X) pirate hex. I still did not receive a screen telling me that the Orions (X) were elminated.

In case you do not want to read all that my questions are:
How do you win the game in conquest mode in Orion Pirate as one of the star empires?
Are you supposed to see a screen when you have eliminated an enemy empire or pirate cartel?
Is there a screen telling you that you have won the conquest campaign?

IIRC, conquest is simply open-ended. There's no storyline to indicate anything, you just keep going and going.
Even the storyline version changes to conquest basically once concluded.
