Yes I know all this, and agree Activision do suck. However, Activision wont release the patch because it's not finished right? It wasn't around a few weeks ago when a patch was leaked, this is how we know it isn't finished, right? Look my point is, law suit or not they wont release a patch that isn't finished and Taldren could have finished it by now. Both parties are to blame, let's not be blind (unless you know somthing I don't in which case you would have to inform me to make the point)

How do you know that the patch that was leaked was the latest build? Besides, why bother hurrying patch development at the moment - Activision aren't exactly going to rush it into release as soon as they get their paws on it. They may as well take their time, ironing out every last one of the bugs that they possibly can. I don't mind waiting for it, if you can't deal with the wait then go play a game that doesn't need any patch like....uh....um....a little help here? j/k

The only reason you got the beta patch in the first place was because the CEO of Taldren was so fed up with Activision that he decided to take matters in his own hands.  Activision promptly slapped Eric on the hand and made him recall the patch.

It wasn't until a month or two after that incident that Activision/Paramont and the Star Trek licensing fiasco started.  That effectively froze any potential release of the patch.

Yes, Activision is to blame:  They didn't support the patch from the getgo i.e., they only assigned one or two personnel to QC the game which effectively meant that it would take a llloooong time to adequately test the patched game.  If I remember correctly, when the leaked beta came out Activision's QC "team" was not even "testing" the current patch build; meaning they were wayyy behind the curve in catching up to what the developers were fixing in the software.

All points valid, to an extent. They still have had so much time to actually finish a patch that will make the game playable online. It hasn't happened yet and they are testing build 527 now? Well they could always have another patch leaked

What was leaked was a beta version that may or may not be the current version of the patch so you can in no way say whether it's finished or not as you are not a tester. And because of NDA the testers cannot say anything about the patch. Suffice it to say Activision has the patch but there is noone on their Q&A testing said patch to determine whether it's ready for release or not all probably because of the lawsuit against Paramount, thus Taldren has done all they can for the time being.

The 525 patch was not the final version as the 527 version is being tested now (dont say otherwise as I've seen it). So it wasn't finished at 525, a long time after the game was released (my point). In the unlikely event that 527 is the final version, kudos, but my oppinion would still stand about the length of time to get something decent into the works.

You know, I'd almost agree with you AA, but for one thing - your assumptions are wrong.

The patch isn't ready, you are right there. Where you have it backwards is assuming it's Activision that won't release a patch until it's "ready".

Taldren CANNOT release a patch until Activision SIGNS OFF on it.

PERIOD.

So, it's just as possible and realistic to state that Taldren is taking this time while Activision and Paramount settle their differences (and that affects contracts, or methinks you didn't know that, either. Yep, take a look at Elite Force II to understand what happened there) to get MORE than the "major bugs" fixed because they KNOW Activision has the "one patch" deal and they've got the time now, hummmmm ?

Oh, n00000oo000333 !!11!!!!1!!1 NO WAY Taldren would be doing something like that - something that makes sense, eh?

My question to you is why you decided to take the pessimistic viewpoint without getting all the facts?

Regards,

I agree with most of that. However, the time frame we are speaking of is rediculous. They had time before Activision took their ball and went home. So although Activision are at fault, so are Taldren for not being on the ball in the first place.

Face the fact's, it dosn't matter what happens now, Activision wont release a patch even if its ready (seeing as this information was leaked too). The only way is going to be that the patch is leaked, otherwise there will never be one. Question, did Taldren get paid? Yes they did, now fix the game I paid for.

Your devote dedication is admirable, but is miss placed.

I was wondering what the status of the final patch for the game was.  I
know there are legal issues going on right now concerning that game and
the license, but it has been over a year since release.  Is there a
realistic time frame for the release of the patch that you know of??
Thanks!

yet a nother example of how little activison CARES about us as consumers of there titles and how little they care about SFCiii you all must remember that they get paied from other titles too so why would they care if it takes them a damn year to patch a game they dont even need to keep afloat. as you can see im fed up with activion and there neglect to make a good game. if they were a car compaiy they would have been sued so damn fast but sence its only a game why should they care. i mean [bleep] lok at sfc2 and op. taldren and Dave pached thoseuntill there are almose undeniably perfect now WTF why cant activion just do the damn same and relice several little patches ............ oh ya i remember now they just whant to get the ONE patch done and then be ever and done with the game and to the hell with us

At  this point can we say: "CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT" ?

I mean technically, it might qualify as a defective product.

Hey!!  Let's all hire one of those lawyers that doesn't charge you unless they win.  They will also tell you if you have a case because they want their 30-40% of the settlement for their fee...

Yeah, I know...  I guess I like game that you can't go online and download cheat codes for.  This is a game that actually requires skill.  You don't buy it, download the cheat codes, and have it beat in one week.  Then it goes back in the box, is uninstalled from your computer, and your on your way back to the store to buy another one of Activision's exciting, challenging games...what a bunch of B.S.  The gaming companies are sucking us dry.  The games should not have cheat codes.  They should require time and skill to beat.  Oh, but then we would be playing it longer, and not buying as many games as often...  We can't have that!!!!
