I was wondering what the status of the final patch for the game was. I
know there are legal issues going on right now concerning that game and
the license, but it has been over a year since release. Is there a
realistic time frame for the release of the patch that you know of??

yet a nother example of how little activison CARES about us as consumers of there titles and how little they care about SFCiii you all must remember that they get paied from other titles too so why would they care if it takes them a damn year to patch a game they dont even need to keep afloat. as you can see im fed up with activion and there neglect to make a good game. if they were a car compaiy they would have been sued so damn fast but sence its only a game why should they care. i mean [bleep] lok at sfc2 and op. taldren and Dave pached thoseuntill there are almose undeniably perfect now WTF why cant activion just do the damn same and relice several little patches ............ oh ya i remember now they just whant to get the ONE patch done and then be ever and done with the game and to the hell with us

I've only bought one other Activision game since SFC3. As soon as a realised my mistake I took the product back and got a refund. Are they any others here boycotting Activision products?

If I were to have to guess, judging by all the MechBunnies out there, ATVI having MechWarrior 2 is probably a factor into why Viacom went with them. Before MechWarrior 2, the only people who knew what BattleMechs were, are those people who played either Robotech or BattleTech. Now 'Mech is almost a household word, and look who bought the license to the MechWarrior series after MW2:Mercs...Microsoft! If M$ buys a license it had to have been good right?

Who here has even heard of MechWarrior 1? Not very many of you I would guess, and some that had would prolly only know of it cause...well, they had a Mech2, so shouldn't they have had a Mech 1? Mechwarrior 1 was a far better game than MechWarrior 2 was, but the graphics engine was slightly subpar (for the time it was released). You'll never find Mechwarrior 1 anywhere though, Harmony Gold made sure of that.

No matter how cool the game looks, I'm not sure why anyone here would want to buy another game from Activision at this point. What if it has a major, game breaking bug on release? Are you willing to wait a year or more for a patch that may never come?

I've given serious thought to waiting for the first patch before buying a game. I usually don't buy a game at release. I wait. But, I get tired of waiting and take a chance. Usually, I don't have many problems running the game, although the game mechanics run buggy and can be frustrating.

Playing POTC now. I bought it about 3 weeks ago. It was released in July and the first patch is still not out. Bethesda / Akella seem to be slow too. Not as long as SFC3 I know. POTC does have the advantage of being quite easy to mod. Several gamers have worked out the major bugs and added some interesting content.

The developers do make the patches.. and Taldren has done so, and is still doing so.. squishing the last of the bugs... It is up to the Publisher to give approval of the patch for release.. in the case of Starfleet Command III, Activision is the Publisher who holds all the cards and they have not released any patch Officially.. they only released a Beta Patch almost a year ago... as for Taldren releasing the patch, Taledren does not have a say in Patch release.. they only make the fixes and send them to Activison.. Activision has to test play the game, Quality Assure the patch, then they release if it is to their staisfaction...

So no, the Developer doesn't just get to release the patch, unless they have recieved the rights from the publisher to do so...

Fools! The patch was leaked, it made the game worse. Sure Activision sucks, but Taldren have had over a year to get rid of all the bug's. Your not seriously suggesting that if Taldren sends a decent patch to Activions that they wont release it? Both companies suck and I will never "buy" any of their product's ever again.

Yes I know all this, and agree Activision do suck. However, Activision wont release the patch because it's not finished right? It wasn't around a few weeks ago when a patch was leaked, this is how we know it isn't finished, right? Look my point is, law suit or not they wont release a patch that isn't finished and Taldren could have finished it by now. Both parties are to blame, let's not be blind (unless you know somthing I don't in which case you would have to inform me to make the point)

All points valid, to an extent. They still have had so much time to actually finish a patch that will make the game playable online. It hasn't happened yet and they are testing build 527 now? Well they could always have another patch leaked

The 525 patch was not the final version as the 527 version is being tested now (dont say otherwise as I've seen it). So it wasn't finished at 525, a long time after the game was released (my point). In the unlikely event that 527 is the final version, kudos, but my oppinion would still stand about the length of time to get something decent into the works.

I agree with most of that. However, the time frame we are speaking of is rediculous. They had time before Activision took their ball and went home. So although Activision are at fault, so are Taldren for not being on the ball in the first place.

Face the fact's, it dosn't matter what happens now, Activision wont release a patch even if its ready (seeing as this information was leaked too). The only way is going to be that the patch is leaked, otherwise there will never be one. Question, did Taldren get paid? Yes they did, now fix the game I paid for.

Your devote dedication is admirable, but is miss placed.
