...Only psychopaths like myself considered playing the Operation Unity campaign.

Actually, Kadh's SFB group played out the Unity campaign a while back and posted the play-by-play of it here:

I sense your confusion. My group had all of two players. Then again, they actually finished.

LOL, no confusion here!  I'm an ol' SFB'er myself.

Kadh's group did actually finish.  Click on the  Operation Unity Turns  link and then click on the list of turns to see how it all played out.

The final epic battle with the Andromedan Desecrator is found where it says "The current turn is here."

It's almost heartbreaking that Andromeda was only 1 measly point away from having a Devastator for the final battle...

Bad grammar on my part I guess. Kadh's group actually finished. Good for them! (Too bad for the B10 and Rom SCS that didn't make it through the final battle though.)

I never got even halfway done, even after repeated attempts. With the release of the new Andro stuff in C3, there were too many holes in the original rules that needed patching.

Plus I almost had to shoot my opponent one day after he expected to be allowed to run for 19 turns and recharge his batteries. And not be considered to have disengaged.

My one attempt at Operation Unity ended when the temporal elevator and PA mines were introduced in C3 as well. But I did have the satisfaction of killing one Dominator and getting to the excess damage line on his second one in the same battle against my Klink/Lyran/Hydran fleet. It cost me my L-SCS, but it was beautiful.

We finished it and discovered that the Andros really didn't have much of a chance.  We've done some talking with ADB and the forum there came up with a list of things to try.  Because it's the only true epic campaign in SFB, we're going to try it again and see what works and what doesn't.

Toward's the end, our Andro player finally developed a strategy that, had she implemented it sooner, would have posed a major threat to the Galactic success.  She started going all out to kill the biggest ship in our fleet no matter what the cost.  I don't think it would have secured victory, but it would have been a lot tougher fight.
