Enterprise-C Wallpaper
« on: October 30, 2003, 08:55:21 am »
Here's another wallpaper I did with my Ent.-C. This is a theme I've been thinking about for awhile. If anyone has ideas on what ships, and/or designs should be from that period (between TMP and TNG), let me know. I've been thinking about a "Lost Generation" mod, but it would be a long term project. Let me know if you think it's a good idea. BTW, if I did it it would be for SFC2x.

Here's the wallpaper...

I'm liking the idea as well.

It would be a great mod to have the Melak included in.

Nice wallpaper too, Sandman!

Thanx guys!!

OK, the Melak...I'll give that one a try, but might have to go with one that's already done...not too good with non-Fed designs. Naturally, the D-7 and the BoP for the Klinks. Any other ideas for the models needed to include?

This will be fun!

Hey, that's cool of you to consider the Melak. I was actually just making a joke really. Atheorhaven has it in the works but is completing other projects first, so don't feel pressured. The Melak has, shall we say, an interesting history.

KO!

It'll be awhile anyway, as this is just beginning to take shape in my old brain-pan. Besides, I have to learn how to make a mod 1st. But, if all else fails, I might just do a model pack including the ships from that era. Will have to see where this all takes me.

Cardassians and Ferengi for sure
It would be interesting to see what an older Cardassian starship would look like
as well as the Ferengi

you may want to invent a Klingon design that did not last long and was replaced by the Vorcha, seeing as that ship was a joint federation- klingon endeavor(well the klinks just incorporated Fed tech in the design )

I still want to see a Fed Gorn Tech exchange derived TMP gorn. Same siloutte as the SFB gorns but Fedish saucers and nacelles.

That would be awesome to see
Prehaps we can get a few Kitbashers to Tackle those
Or if it is a Straight Moddeller, then I can draw up some I deas...But thee Gorn By this era would have already just assimilated the tech and made there own stuff

The biggest problem would be mating the secondary hull to the saucers. I think the secondary hulls should remain gornish rather than fedish but they need to evolve to TMP era. Thus they need to be logical extensions of the old and still mate to the thinner saucers' contours well. They also need to be "functional" with shuttle belts, Plasma turrets, canards, antennas, symbols, and so forth. Perhaps some of the Later designs distinctive characteristics could be put on the secondary hull and nacelle wings. I think the only change to the SFB silouette that might look good is the warp pylons might benifit from being arranged like the klingon ones are rather than vertically. I'm not sure about it though, I just don't like the vertical arrangement. (I don't like them on the Akula either) And the Hull alloy should be bronze or copper. Anyway thats my vision of a TMP Gorn but it might be before TMP but after TOS.

I think the thinner fed Saucers are shaped more asthetically but I like the overall gorn layout minus the nacelle struts alignment. Perhaps a compromise between the fat gorn primaries and the fed saucers, meeting half way between the two. I think the secondary hull should have all sorts of spars and shapes like the SFC ones. and the nacelles themselves could also have some of those adornments but should be thinner and detailed like the TMP fed ones. The orignal gorn nacelles were overly simple and also too fat.

Thats great! I'm impressed. The shape looks "genuine" or "authentic". In a way that the original SFB gorns did not. They  look less like a real machine and more like a cartoon. Yours looks like its a real piece of machinery. I like it. Even if it does not match my own description in some ways, it achieves most of the effect I wanted to convey. Thats the post TOS/PreTMP gorn. Now, Where's the rest of 'em?

Be sure to revisit this wall paper with your Ambassador when an equally cool Melak Warpbird has been made. That would be cool if you could CREATE a wallpaper/scene where the Enterprise C is ambushed by the Romulan warbirds prior to 'Yesterdays Enterprise'.

There's a lot of wiggle room in this period of Trek history.

TMP Lost Generation Mod.

I would include FASA and Klingon Academy ships and TMP Andromedans?

Hmm? I could see it now

Ambassador Class top CX for the Federation

K?mirra Class top CX for the Klingons

Melak top CX for the Romulans

I don't see either the Melak or the Ambassador as battleships....

Gorn Cuiser  by Azel to CX for the Gorn

KA/Taldren Tholians

Taldren:GAW/P81/Darkdrone Kitbashed Andromedans

Oh, the possibilities?

Qapla!

Wow. I guess more needs to be done in this area...didn't think I'd get this kind of response. OK, time to start gathering designs and models...and find someone who knows how to do a mod.

Let's keep this going...I'm really excited about the response. I can see it now...Facing the Rommies at Narendra lll, finding a way to defeat them and save the Klink outpost. I'm sure someone would be able to...the more you play a scenario, the better you get.

OK, I'm off to find designs. And BTW, Azel, any designs you have floating around in that prolific mind of yours please post.

YESSSSS!!!

OK, going by the the "Lost Era" series of Trek books that's coming out now, the Tholians played a big role in the late-TMP, early TNG era, so I'll be doing a little research on them and doing some ships. Hopefully the textures won't be too hard to do...I hate texturing.

Oh, and Andromedans. HAVE to do them.

Hee-hee, this going to be fun!!

Just started book 3 in the "Lost Era" series...it covers 2328-2346. It mentions a Cardassian cruiser called the Akril class...anyone seen pics or diagrams of this? If not, anyone have any ideas as to what it should look like? Thanx for the help.

I have a buncha Excelsior kitbashes (ones that resemble the centaur)
or i could bash up a few more if you want to use them.

An Excelsior version of the Akula, or what have you.
Lemme know what you need

My AIM handles are any of the following
Lyran Miriki
Steelviper33
Fury of a Seraph

Feel free to IM me if you need a kitbash.

Whatever you feel would be appropriate. I think as long as it looks right, it is right, since there is no real "canon" guideline. Probably any Excelsior variant or bash will work...we can practically write our own stories and come up with our own version of ships. TIME TO HAVE FUN!!

Found this a bit late, but here's a ship list of new classes I've gleaned from the first four books:

The Sundered

O'Neil Colonies
Neyel Warships
Tholian ships (probably just use the ones from KA/GAW)

Serpents Among the Ruins

Romulan Ivarix-class (The Tomed is of this class)
Federation U.S.S. Universe
Federation Oddysseus-class

The Art of the Impossible

Cardassian Akril-class
Klingon Birok-class strike cruiser (a modification of the Kleev XCA from OP?)
Romulan Amarcan-class Warbird (mentioned in passing in TAotI, but named in Vulcan's Heart)
Klingon Vakk-class cruiser

Well of Souls

Cardassian scout
Vulcan warp-shuttle (Named the T'Pol, big enough to carry its own pod)
