OT, But Forum Related

How does one post a picture underneath their name and rank in the lefthand column?

I've been looking around but have not found a "how to" yet.

Thanks in advance!

You can select an avatar for under rank in preferences area...the picunder the sig is just one you add to you post. You can either add it at the end of the post, or edit your post so it shows up under you sig.

This is at end of post:

then you'll see another with my sig, and you'll notice the post was edited.

Hmmm...I'm not quite getting you.

Let me explain what I'm thinking of:

I'd like to put a pic under my name and rank so every time I post, it shows up there. The pic I have in mind is an in-game pic I captured (using F12) from SFC: OP.

Is this even possible?

And thanks for helping me out!

Kaenyne,

Go to the area were you would change your password etc. Go down to the bottom to the area that says this:
URL to your picture (80x80 max pixels, may be smaller) (.gif, .jpg, .png accepted)
This is where you would place the URL to your Avatar at, and yes you do have to host it yourself.

Hey Captain Ron!

Okay, now I get it. Seeing as i don't have a place to host it, I guess I'll have to forgo the pic under the sig.

Do the same rules apply for a pic under my actual message text?

Yes,
Any type of pic will have to be hosted. Some forums will host avatars for them by allowing uploads or picking them from a list but not here.

Okey Dokey. Now I'm all cleared up.

At least now I know for the future.

I appreciate the input!

Hi, this is a link to the forum in wich you can find a list of avatars posted by Taldren....Of course, all SFC related.

http://208.57.228.4/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=67992&Forum=UBB1&Words=avatars&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=200&Old=allposts&Main=67992&Search=true#Post67992

If you perform a search in yahoo/google I´m sure you will find a few other sites. Like the one I´m using.

Hope this helps,

Mariano

As you all can see, I finally figured it out. It's not what I initially had in mind but this works just fine for me.

Thanks Captain Ron and Sandman for the help and MarioDT for the link for the avatars.

Now my posts are are a little bit more colorful.

Just to open another can of worms.. I never did like that style.. much prefer the old UBBS style of forum. The only reason why I post here is because after months of asking Taldren to give me the option to change it back, I figured out how to implement it in my own browser, bypassing the new U.threads look entirely and resetting it back to the older UBBS look on my side.  So I can still participate and retain the look that worked for me.  Observe:

That's what I see in this thread.    I also get appended sigs, which I was perfectly happy with, and with the settings edited in the preferences, I get no avatars, and no extra stuff that I don't want (or need) to see..  and the colors and everything else the way that I like.

Just call me old-fashioned..

Actually, I just found where you can do that in IE.. but it only works in IE 5 and up.. (haven't checked it on 6 yet, but will soon).

Tools > Internet options > Accessibility >

And this'll now work.  However, you'll need to toggle it off for any page not on Taldren or everything will look like the Classic Taldren look giving you a Classic Taldren Internet.

On the other hand though Smiley, I want a copy of your litestep theme for my wife's machine..

Thanks..

We've got XP Pro running on that one, so no problem there (with luck).  But we also haven't tried getting litestep running there yet either..
