I'm my own worst critic, which is why I don't normally mess with WIP posts. Usually, there's very little anyone can mention that I haven't agonized over, ( I'm as nitpicky and anal as a Star Trek fan can come, but sometimes you just got to let it go ... ) but all feedback is always welcome.
Having said that, I really hated the last two pics I posted. The model just wasn't matching the posted and emailed pics close enough. So many little inconsistancies from picture to picture were driving me nuts, such as the artistic license the artist of the paintings took with foreshortening. This project has been a good thing for me thus far, in making me call closer attention to details and finding the best compromises of visions to produce a satisfactory model.
I also feel I'm slightly out of my comfort zone of TOS. I dig the TMP style, don't get me wrong, I simply prefer the classic look of the original series. This particular ship definately bridges the gap, IMHO.
I'm much happier with this third new mesh. It seems to be the harmonious balance of all the aforementioned pics. She really developed a look of her own as I tried to match up to the references, rather than going on based on what I thought she should look like. I now feel ready to texture this mesh, although I may not be able to dedicate time for this until mid-week.
