It's a good start, however it needs alot more detail in the textures. Especially being as huge as it is.

It is as detailed as I felt it should be, you might see it as a start, I see it as a finished work. It has a lot of refined lines, and both structural and texturing details. Additional clutter would not enhance its appearance, in fact in my opinion that would detract from the elegant line it cuts right now. Sometimes less is more.

Thanks for the feedback, and do keep those cards and letters comming boys and girls.

I agree, ofen less IS more. Although I was thinking that at least some windows could help imply the massive scale of the vessel when no immediate frame of reference is available. Just my 2 cents.

Um, there are windows, the fact that it is a 2000 meter long ship makes them very unseeable unless you get in very close, remember that a 2 meter window, which is a fairly hefty sized one, is only 1/1000 the length of the ship. If they were big enough to see in these long range shots then they would be completely disproportionate in size.

I don't think it needs detail but I think at some points the lines seem too sharp. That doesn't matter, Mainly I think the textures need depth. Does that make sense?

Ok, I guess y'all don't see what I see, not a problem. I took the ship offline and I will take a fresh look at it in a couple months, if I still see it as finished then offline she will stay.

Just release the ship if YOU think it is finished and you had enjoyed making it. Only this way you will be pleased with the result and you will make more great ships.!!!!

Good work, by the way... (I saw the ship yesterday)

I agree with Mariano...release it as is, then the nay-sayers can re-work the textures to their hearts content. As the saying goes:"You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can't please all the people all the time." I have come to the conclusion that no one sees things alike (big surprise ), so when you're happy with it, release it.

BTW, great work and sublety on the detailing is fantastic. Another masterpiece from LD!

or, better yet, please do not punish those of us who appreciate this ssort of art, and cannot model nor texture, and therefore make no such comments... at least let us (mostly) quiet thankful ones have it to play with...:)

Not that I dislike the ship at all, but perhaps you could add some greebles that would satisfy the people who want more detail, and at the same time not throw off the scale. Add greebles instead of making the windows bigger, that's just a suggestion. I personally don't think the ship needs anything unless you think it does.

There was a whole lot I considered saying, and a whole lot I wrote then deleted. In the end I decided to leave it at the model is offline. I have no intention of reconsidering it based on any comments made here, if I choose to do so it will be based solely on my own personal preferences. For those who liked it and wanted it, shoot me an email and I will hook you up. For those who have a clearer picture of what was in my head then even I do, well y'all are so good you can make it your own self.

Lord Delekhan,

I want you to know that I wasn't trying to insult you or berate your work in any way. I was also not trying to sound 'better than you'. I should have mentioned that I felt there were good things about the model as well, for not doing so originally I apologize.  I was just honestly trying to offer suggestions to make the model better than it was in my opinion. That's all. I wouldnt offer such advice if I didn't feel there wasn't potential in it. So I apologize if I came off as condescending in any way. I was honestly just trying to help.

I like this statment!

Can I use it in the future, I can find allot of use for it down the road. As for the rest I learned how to rework textures to get a ship to look the way i wanted it to. Anyone can learn to do it, if you are willing to invest the time. Anyone can do 3D models too, if you invest the time and money to do it. If you have done neither and wish to post a negative comment keep it to yourself. If you see a flaw that needs fixing inform the creator about it. If you don't like the looks don't download it ot retexture it yourself.

If you like the model but can not do anything about getting it that look you wanted, see if someone else that can do it shares your vision and try to get them to do it.

There is no reason to be Negitive about things.
