Allow me to run an idea past you, if you dont mind.

I have my own universe based off of trek. Those of you who have been following the "Demonhawk" thread have just seen a small glimps of it.

But let me run something by some of you people out there, and please, let me know what you think.

In my universe, the Lyran, Gorn, Hydran, ISC all existed....k, good
But someone had mentioned that the Gorn became Federation members, so heres what I did.

The Gorn stayed a seperate nation all throughout TOS and joined up LATE LATE TMP, meaning about Undiscovered Country times.

But this led me to wonder what would happen to all the armed forces of the Gorn Confederation. I imagine that most of them would actually be absorbed into Starfleet, and even the Gorn ships would be used to a certain extent by Starfleet (the rest being used as state militia so to speak, for home defense)

Now, I was reading a while back about the Blue Fleet, and how they are entirely andorians. well what about a Gorn fleet, a fleet that used Gorn designed Federation starships. And this made me think, what would they look like?!?

Thats where you come in. I cant decide what to make them look like.

In my Universe the TOS gorns used ships from SFB, and in TMP they used Thu11s kitbash styled ones.

So i wonder, what would a Gorn Fleet, or what ive affectionally called the "Scale Fleet" look like?

I'd like to take a pass at this. I'll do some drawings and post 'em later.

I think the Gorn model that was made for the DS9 episode should be a guide for late TMP gorms. I like the distinctive style, and the flair of rteptilian looks. Maybe try some without the big open space in the center.

There was a Gorn made for DS9? I don't remember that at all! Does somebody have a pic?

Or am I misunderstanding something here?

Eh, i dont really consider that official. I dont like the idea of gorn splitting off once more, to fight against who they were allied to before...

But i do like the design I_Mudd threw out there.

Speaking of Gorn designs........maybe it is time for a synthesis. As we all know there are at least 3 strains of Gorn ship designs: SFB, FASA, Klingon Academy/SFC. The designs are way different enough from one another that you can't really say one is TOS and the others different eras. However, maybe one of the design strains is the Federation variety......probably the SFB ones. Sort of like how the Lyrans bracnhed off and became the Empire and the Democratic Republic, but with the Gorn you can envision that the different factions developed their own strains of ship designs. This would explain nicely why the SFB Gorns are so damned Feddy-looking already.

3 strains of Gorn Design ... ?
According to SFB sources, there are 3 seperate races of gorn. ( That's why they have 3 homeworlds on the game map.) Physically, these races are close enough to be the same species, but what if there ship designing philosophys differed?
Food for thought.

Hmmm I didn't know about the 3 homeworlds.....quite a coinkidink. Yet another excuse for having more ships in the game.  But then we never really needed a GOOD excuse did we, any excuse is fine.

But doesn't it strike anyone else how darned similar the SFB gorn ship design is to Fed ships? You have the basic saucer (saucers in the case of the Gorn) and the twin nacelles. It's too similar to be coincidence. I think those Gorn ships may be based on old captured Federation ship designs? Hmmmm.

Quite possible, Atra. The Gorn were at odds with the Paravians early in their space farring ventures. Then they encountered the Romulans. Niether of these encounters could be considered model first contact situations. If a Gorn ship encountered an early Federation explorer, perhaps, a little xenophobia of sorts prompted them to attack and capture the unknown vessel. It's technological advances may have been incorporated into Gorn designs, to aid in the war effort against the Romulans. Or the design philosophy could have been a psychological attack on the Romulans, causing them to consider the Gorn Confederacy had more allies/was larger than they first considered. All of this is entirely possible when you consider how many explorers were lost without a trace in the early days of Starfleet, the obvious design similarities, and the near disasterous Cestus III encounter.

Food for thought, and that was just an appetizer.
