OH THE HUMANITY!!! MY SFC2 CD IS DEAD!!!
« on: October 21, 2003, 08:18:07 pm »

I cannot believe this, MY SFC2 CD is toast! It fell out of the CD rack and slipped out of it's case and my desk killed it when I moved it, not noticing the cd.

My only hope now is to try and restore the installed game from an old backup from almost 2 years ago. But I am already searching for a copy online, with no luck

If anyone knows of a link online with a copy ACTUALLY available, please post it. I think the CD got jealous when I ordered SFC online. I think it commited suicide.

Never mind, problem SOLVED. I used the new google BETA froogle search and after a couple of sold out links, I found one for $7.95!!! It didn't list a delivery charge either (hmm). But I already palced the order!

So currently, SFC, SFC2, SFC-OP, and SFC3 are all still available new, WAHOO!

If the disk is not chipped or cracked or in pieces...

Only scratched...

then why don't you take it down to a used music CD store and have it professionally turned...

here in San Antonio, TX, we have a place called CD Exchange and they professionally refinish scratched CD back into new condition for only $2.00 a CD... this includes games, DVD, music CD, Data CD.. any CD....  Doing this, i never have to buy another CD to replace one unless I crack or break it.

Also, why not copy the CD after fixing it to the hard Drive and burn you another backup original copy? I have done this for all my games (some games I have to use DVD X Copy Express to get the CD CRC files) but it works none the less so i can always reinstall the game later, or have a disk that the computer will recognize for future play time...

Just a suggestion before you go spending more money than you have too..

just call around...

For a not so good but quick fix... buy a Game Doctor from Best Buy... it is n't the greatest, but hopefully it can finish the CD enough for it to work...

Hope that this helps...

Usually I do make backup copies, but I stopped doing that recently. This one had one of the feet from the computer desk land on it pretty much killing it. Oddly enough it was on my to do list to re-install and patch to latest sfc2 and OP. No matter, I already placed the order for another one.

Glad to hear about getting CDs repaired, I've got some old games I want to save! I am actually setting up my older computer to play some old games like Wing Commander. But my WC4 CD's aren't in the best of shape and need some attention. Now I know where to go, I was about to order some used ones online.

You can also buy devices like at Staples, Office Depot, etc that you can use at home to restore CD's. Works most of the time and was about $30 USD when I bought it.
