U.F.P.F. Challenger WIP
« on: October 16, 2003, 07:28:04 pm »
Decided to start a new thread for this, as the other one is getting quite large. About 75% finished...the hard parts are done. Now that it's converted properly (thanx Alec!), Azels mesh is really taking on a life of its own. Purty ship.

Here are some pics:

Thanx guys!

Finished texturing her (finally ). As long as Azel OKs the paint job, I should be able to release her tomorrow...need to hp/dp her and test in game.

Here's a few pics:

Your done so now can we rip your texture job ?  j/k     I like it a lot.  Though I do have 1 suggestion.  Tis only a suggestion mind you as these things are always modelers preference.  I always feel the blue warps look better if the lighting is blended as opposed to a solid blue.  I like Sunset in the lighting section. Though I use blue or white, not the default yellow.  I bet you have Eye Candy with PSP. Try the swirl effect with light detail just to add some variation, then maybe blur after.  Thats my 2 cents. Or was that a quarter?  Inflation you know.

Say are you still sending me fonts for TOS ships? - hint hint- I used Gothic, looks ok except the letter C sucks.  I was surprised how jagged PSP made the lettering.

How are things with Sprint btw?

She Looks amazing Man...!!!
Just need to add more windows to the bottom of the secondary hull, add that window at the front  of the interhull(the neck notch), and the blue bussard intakes on the warp nacelles
here check the pic out

BTW can you put the running lights and registry spot-lights on too(or are they there already and its just the rendering)

Thanks man superb job thus far

That's the pic I couldn't find!! OK, that will help alot. Shouldn't take too long to tweak the lighting and such...still have to do the i_maps for the saucer top & bottom. I didn't realize the neck was olive also...do you want it olive or leave it grey? That's the great thing about layers...you can change one aspect without killing the whole texture.

Now, what size you want it scaled to...frigate, destroyer, Light cruiser, heavy cruiser? And do you want the hp layed out specifically for this ship? I haven't figured out shipedit yet, so when I hp I do it to an existing ship. Let me know.

James, I'll try that out...I always play with the glowies, just didn't this time...wanted to get it done since I left poor Azel mwaiting for over a month.

I just noticed that the nacelles struts are not connected to the ship possibly due the the widening of the secondary hull

Awesome work man THANKS!!!

Well, fixed the pylon on the left side so it is attached. Added windows to the lower hull...the spot you mentioned on the shuttlebay is not a mistake...it's where the doors retract to. Added a torp launcher to the saucer bottom...having trouble getting the i map for the saucer top and bottom on there. I'm going to send the corrected bitmaps to Azel...maybe someone can get the saucer i maps on there...I'm lost and getting to the point where I want to throw my puter out the window with it. Yes, it's pissing me off! Azel, let me know what you think when you get 'em...might be tomorrow though as I'm currently on my wifes puter.

I also noticed the mesh of the secondary hull got a little widened that instead of circular it is ovicular  whe looking at the ship dead on...If you can resend it if possible thanks
