Oh!!!
I know I have been gone for almost 2 years, but what is the deal with the Taldrenite Haven? I recogonize some of the names from when Erik and the community first started the Taldren team, and what I think became the biggest or second biggest thread. I remember that monster Star Wars vs Star Trek thread might have been the biggest, oh and that plasma thread.

There was a landing gear malfunction.  Minimal damage.  We discussed it here at the time (see link below)

 Thanks Nem.
I think the next cool thing as far as space goes is that we have a sattelite arriving at Saturn in June this year. It is supposed to have some probes go into the atmosphere of Titan.
 Cassini mission
Anyway.... I am gradually movng up. It is a shame that so many people have gone inactive. But newcomers ActiveX and Cross are making great progress, infact I think cross will be passig me up tommorow. Good stuff.

Nearly 5 years on SETI?  You are one of the old timers.  At just past two years I am rather a Johnny come lately.

lol ya i am a old timer. when i frist heard about it i could see the posabilty for future research in other fields. think of all the computers that set on screan saver all night. i tried some of the medical research a few years back but i found them to be to intrusive. with seti driver set on low i dont ever notice it taking away from what i am doing. i realy dont think our tech is far enough alone to where we have much of a chance to find anything.
If there is a more worthy project out there that will work like seti driver i would be willing to move to that if we did it as a team.
sorry but its 6 am and time for me to go to bed

We (as a team) were considering at one point what to do after SETI 1 ended and couldn't decide.  Some of the projects look interesting but many of us object to the proprietary nature of the programs.  Then again some of them allow the people behind the system to jump you to another project without even giving you a choice.

I also don't think it likely that we will find anything.  But it is worth the chance.   The attempt has already proven the practicality of distributed volunteer processing to help scientific research.

On a more personal level I just achieved a goal

Your rank out of 4939040 total users is:    7994th place.

Top 8000 and on to 7500.

Well, it is a big one for me considering that it took so long to crunch units with my last computer.
So these are my stats now.

I am not sure what happened to Cross here. He was doing so well, but I guess he had to stop for some reason. If he hadn't he wold have passed me already.
111) Cross   65 202 hr 22 min 3 hr 06 min 48.5 sec Tue Mar 30 07:32:35 2004 United States

Well, I have just added a 350mhz P2 to the mix. My average time will probably start going up now.  It seems to be pushing them out about every 14 - 15 hours.

You mean my Nationstates nation?  If so I bet you feel silly now

At present nothing "big" is going on.  Just a slow steady climb.    Feel free to start something.  Seriously, some of the highest points of activity came when two (or more) people were in a race up the ranks.
