Topic: Now Directx is not recognized!!! (was Can't Reinstall) (Read 2010 times)

Hello,

SFC 3 got corrupted on my computer. I could not uninstall it using the unistaller.

So I removed all SFC3 entries from the registry. Still could not uninstall.

I then reinstalled it by going to the cd - and going to the setup.exe program (or was it install?) - anyhoo, it installed.

but when I tried to run it - it gets past the videos then says 'DirectX 8.1 is not installed' - so I install it. Same error. I upgrade to Directx 9.0b runtime - same error.

I think the registry had an entry for SFC 3.

But I reinstalled directx 8.1 =- off the CD - and still no go.

Any idea what is wrong now?

Delete all of SFC3 off your computer under program files\activsion\sfc3. Then re-install SFC3 and BE SURE to patch it with the BETA patch or the directX patch if still available.

The directX issue was a minor bug where out of box version of SFC3 wouldn't recognize newer versions of directx and would exit. There was an immediate patch for that. The BETA patch for SFC3 includes it already.

BTW, directx will not install a previous version over a new one.

The direct X patch is still out there.

I have a SFC 3 patch page set up that contains the Borg Bonus missions, the Nemisis Add on, the DirectX 9 SFC 3 Fix, and also the nerdlat (read name backwards) bonus missions...

Or you can just get the Beta patch on my web site that contains all the above EXCEPT for the Nerdlat missions..

Beta patch includes over 150 game fixes, Borg Bonus missions, Nemisis Bonus mission, SFC 3 DirectX 9 fix.

If you decide to use the Beta patch, Please do not use any other download on top of the Beta patch.

What i mean by this is that as stated above, the beta patch includes the Borg Bonus, Nemisis Bonus, and Direct X SFC 3 fix... adding these before or after using the beta patch will corrupt the game.. use the beta patch on a clean, unaltered install of SFC 3..

after this you can then add the Nerdlat Bonus missions, and then apply any Fan made mod to the game you wish
