Just built a brand new rig for gaming purposes... I installed SFC 3, the direct x 9 fix and I'm able to log onto the D3... But when I play I see the ships but I dont see the eye candy-- phasers, photon, the turn arcs or shields. This is a fresh install folks. Here is my setup:
WIN 98
Radeon 9600 PRO
Audugy 2
25GB HDD
512MB RAM
2.60 Celeron CPU

Any ideas? Thanks!

It is a bug in the latest Catalyst drivers. See this thread:
