Death rides on swift wings...

The IKV Deathwing - the latest result of the Klingons' inferiority complex when it comes to battleships:

I started this project over 2 years ago with one of my first fully scratchbuilt models, the original Deathwing (picture a boxier, disproportionate, hastily built model using stock Taldren textures). I've been trying my hand at redesigning and 'wickedizing' her for the past few months and never really got anywhere. That is of course until Atolm and I started discussing a Klingon ship big enough to counter another project we were working on and that inspired him to design the Bat'leth class. His original intention was for it to be the Deathwing but it wasn't exactly what I'd had in mind for the big DW so I took one last shot at the concept myself. There aren't a lot of TNG era Klingons out there, especially the big ones so I've had to improvise on most of it, though I did seek inspiration from other's designs to get an idea of where I wanted to go with it. I think, for the most part, this beast is how I had envisioned her (though I never really had a set idea of what it looked like exactly other than it having a large, 'W' shaped wingspan and being badass big) and I may very well have broken out of my usual string of doing variants of preexisting ships. I haven't exactly had a lot of luck with my own designs in the past, of course a modeler is his own worst critic (though probably not the most tactless ). The reason I was so critical about this one is because it plays a major role in my still-work-in-progress fiction series and I wanted it to be just right. I don't normally write much regarding the design process but I intend to go more in-depth about this ship and a lot of my others once the new Articles/Fiction section is up at DRS.

As usual, all the compatible SFC versions are included with this beaut, along with a hardpoint sheet and blank wing textures. I also put a bit more time into the SFC3 specs, giving her more leeway in regards to weapons loadout and systems space. She might not be able to nuke a Scimitar but she can give most other ships a run for their money.

Heh, I don't see what's wrong with the scale now, it's kind of the selling point of the ship afterall. She's really not that much different in size than the D'deridex and Scimitar.

Otherwise though, you can use it in whatever mods you want, just as long as nobody converts it to any other games. I don't have time to keep tabs on other gaming communities to make sure everything is 'in order'.

Dang nabbit WZ.  Just when I was getting into TOS mode,  you pull out this behemoth.  Well I can't miss out on a good old fashion Rommie whooping.  Set all 20 disrupters on frag. Whishzobalabam . Hmm isn't that glow pretty against the stars

Crap, that thing is big.  I have a hard time believing that a klingon ship that massive would have a hard time with the scimitar.

Wow! She is HUGE!  I love her! I like huge ships. I can imagine a three-way battle between her, the Diamond Star and the Scimitar!

P.S. I just went to your and that reminded me of your slick Romulans and that your new Klingon BB is their answer to the Rommie D'deridex.

I'd LOVE to see the Romulans and Klingons get into a shipbuilding "cold war" where they keep trying to one-up each other. And why not throw in the Feds?

Just random thoughts floating about my head...

Hello WickedZombie45,

Thank you very much for the astounding IKS Deathwing,
My jaw-hit-the-floor when I downloaded it,

Cleeves' IKS Bird of Death used to be my standard "ride",
now I've got two "equal favourites",

Your IKS Deathwing is a Godsend,
Truely a beautiful 3d starship mod,
Thanks again for your marvelous work,

Take care,
Agent Sloan

In fact, after a more thorough in-game test, the Deathwing managed to hold its own against the Scimitar - barely. The Reman supership has a very mean bite in the forward arcs.

I'm not averse to building one or two other big bruisers for some of the other empires, but I think more traditional sized ships are more practical and economical. Imo, the big 'uns have their place as command ships, base-killers, and super warriors (and self reliant explorers in the Federation's case).

Btw, just what is the Imperator exactly? I'm assuming you aren't referring to the Imperator class Star Destroyer from Star Wars.

I am very impressed! Of course, you probably knew I would feel that way. This design is very superb. I would be interested in purchasing this mod WZ. Let me know if you are interested.

......there are still plenty of concepts to make, WZ........lots of lonely Klingons........some new ones up if you want to peek.

Not by a long shot:

One notable difference between the Deathwing and the Bird of Death is, I didn't design or build the Bird of Death
