as anyone have received a message from microsoft with the subject: Use this patch immediately !

the message is this: Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now!
There are dangerous virus in the Internet now!
More than 500.000 already infected!


if so its a virus, its the 2th time i received it and i know its not from microsoft cause the don't send patch by email.

It sounds VERY fishy to me. I would ignore it. Any doenload messages you receive in general should be viewed as suspect. If you need a specific patch from Microsoft, I'd go to their homepage first and get it directly from there.

It's definitely a virus.  Microsoft definitely does not do mass emails announcing patches, they're actually starting to change their patching focus more towards what they're calling "securing the perimeter".. which is getting people to use firewall and anti-virus programs.

We used to run into these "emails" a lot when I was doing Compaq phone support up here... delete them, and while you're at it, get an email program that'll import your Outlook bookmarks and then delete Outlook itself.  It'll help protect you against macro viruses and worms spread through Outlook..

i stop using outlook express for my mail a long time, m using eudora pro and i got pccilling 2000 for antivirus and it detect it befor i was able to read it.

i got the same email a 3th time and the virus is call PE_DUMARU.A

i don't know what this virus do but i will contact microsoft about that, so be warn if you get a email from microsoft about a patch to protect agains virus don't use it, delet it.
