Energy Disipation weapons
« on: October 07, 2003, 09:32:55 am »
Well, in Australia, the last episode of Deep Space Nine hasn't even aired yet. I haven't watched Deep Space Nine for awhile but tonight I saw the episode where the Defiant gets blown up after being hit by a Breen energy disipator weapon.
Is there any weapon like that in SFC3? (I have the game but can't play it on my computer). And was that a Romulan Warbird I saw getting blown up along with the Defiant?? I can't remember the name of the episode, sorry. I think its in the last season since it has Ezri Dax in it (what hapenned to Jadzia Dax? you can tell its been awhile since I watched it... lol)

The episode of which the U.S.S. Defiant was disabled by the Breen's energy dampener, and ultimately destroyed, is "The Changing Faces of Evil", episode 170.  You're 6 episodes away from the series' conclusion!

That was indeed a Romulan Warbird that was getting blown up by the Dominion/Breen forces, since that battle was the first time of which the Federation/Romulan/Klingon forces had faced the Breen's energy dampeners.  They were unprepared for its effects, and as a result, nearly the entire defending forces were destroyed.

It was later discovered that a Klingon vessel, which had recently undergone a simple modification, was immune to the Breen's energy dampener's effect.  Soon the entire Klingon fleet underwent the exact same modifications and have to take on the task of carrying on the entire war effort while their Federation and Romulan allies try to develop a countermeasure for the Breen's energy dampeners.

As for SFC3, a -similiar- weapon is available called the Myotronic Beam used by the Romulans.  This beam temporarily disables the weapons on an enemy ship if it successfully takes effect, rather nasty when used against the Borg.

Finally, Jadzia Dax was killed in Season 6's finale by Gul Dukat, who was possessed and enhanced by the Pah-Wraiths.  I heard that the reason Terry Farrell left DS9 was because she wanted to pursue movie opportunities.  If that's true, I hope she found it.

Terry Ferrell left to be in Becker with Ted Danson.

Thanks for all that info. I havent watched an episode of Deep Space Nine in well over a year, how serendipitous that I just hapenned to turn on the TV (which I hardly ever have on either) and that was on... lol.
So, I guess with only 6 episodes to go, they dont get a new Defiant then? If the Romulans are allied with the Federation in Deep Space Nine but enemies in Nemesis, what hapenned? And when did the Romulans become allied in first place?

Oh, yes they get a new Defiant, but only in the last two episodes. The alliance with the Romulans was one of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Thr Romulans had signed a non-aggression pact with the Dominion and the war was going badly for the Fed/Kling alliance. Sisko realized he needed the Roms on thier side at all costs so he let Garak talk him into planting evidence that the Dominion was planning a sneak attack on the Romulans. It didn't all work as planned, but the Romulans did enter the war on the side of the Feds and Klings. In Nemesis, the Remans were the ones who were the aggressors, not the Romulans. Shinzon killed the whole Romulan leadership and took over.

I don't think they ever really said,

but I would think as soon as the war was over the alliance against the dominion was no longer
necessary and the Roms simply ended it.

Due to some whining by Sisko the "Prophets" closed access to domion warships from the Gamma quadrent(sorry couldn't resist the part about Sisko Out of all the TNG Fed captains, I like him best)

Then the domion was defeated and I suspect the Roms had no more use for the other alpha quadrant races. So from a Rom standpoint, why stick around? Back to the buisness of taking over the rest of the galaxy .

Yup thats the way it was, but if you know romulans well, you knows they only comply and do things for there personal interest, after the war was over, there really was no need to be aligned with the feds, and after watching Nemesis, it seemed to me that the romulans wanted the remans to do there dirty work, if i recall didnt some romulans help the remans, that were on the senate, then again, it was hard listening to everything, the stupid exit sign in the theatre was making that damn buzzing noise, messed the whole movie up
