Bitten by TOS bug. No antidote either

Ok I liked most of TNG when I saw in it.  Warfs makeup looked week in that episode. Uniforms looked 60ish. Troys' hair was a mess. Was that really in style in the 80's? Whoa.

So  anyway I decided to give the old 1701 a go.  Mesh  in the following gallery. Let me know if they do not zoom.
Needs a lot of work yet.

Hey James Formo!

I tool a look at your 1701 as soon as I saw your post.

The pictures zoom in just fine and the mesh look really good. Anyone who is a friend of the Constitution is a friend of mine!

If I could make one suggestion: Could you christen her U.S.S. Intrepid? She was the Vulcan crewed ship that was destroyed by that giant space amoeba in TOS.

At the moment I can't remember her hull registry number, but if someone does, please post it for us (if in fact Mr. Formo wouldn't mind).

Thanks!

Um sure. I give the Intrepid a go. Just sad to think that after making it look nice it gets eaten by an ameba.  I have to have an Enterprise registry as well.

Textures themselves should not be a problem. I must confess though that I still do not know how to curve the registry.
I have PSP7 . If someone would be nice enough to point out how its done, that would be cool. Otherwise I may have to pull out the manual, which is as big as a dictionary-sigh.

I could use some suggestions as to what font to use as well. I remember Lord Schtump (sp?) saying what he used but that was like 8 months ago and I do not remember.

I am pleased with how I got the back end to look. Though not sure how it will takes textures. I used extrude and that doesn't always go well, so may have to rebuild ths back by hand it by hand. Its at 4494 polygons as it is. I still need to do the deflector which may take close to 500.
I have been using Lord Schtumps (spelling?) mesh as a guide, simply so the the proportions are correct. As I remember he used to import schematics into Max,  Milkshape does not have that ability.

Yah, where is he anyway? He ducked out with a few projects in the works. I got my rotten tomatoes all ready for when he returns. j/k  I honestly not sure about the spelling and since he hasn;t posted for ages, no threads to check.

Here is a pic of the start of the textures. The saucer map is mapped to the entire ship hap hazardly at this point. Just wanted to show off the buzzards. I spent a whole hour just on that texture -hehe . Want to get it so I like cause may be doing a fleet of TOS.  Once I get the 1st one textured, the rest will be much faster. I do not have any TOS base textures, so these are all new.

My pic host is almost over its limit for the day- not sure when it rolls over.

This is my 1st ship btw. seriously-all the rest were just practice.  If you still have any of my previously released ships on your hard drive. Please delete them now. They were all crap lol  Of course the ones not textured by me are an exception

I now know how to do every aspect of a model  for SFC3(About time)

I have, IIRC, a semi-tutorial on getting the text to curve in PSP I can send ya, as well as some fonts. The saucer registry looks best with microgramma bold...I'll send it. I likey that thar Enterprise!
