Topic: XP pro update trouble.

Since recently updating Microsoft XP pro I've not been able to get into online games. nor can I host them. When I try, I keep getting this error and it's acompaning info. Since I can't read code I'm wondering if someone can help me determine whats going on...

Here's the evil error

Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.01 Beta 2 Build 500

This is what I've tried to get my game working agian:

I restored to a point when I was last able to host. I've tried, abeit dangerously to remove some of the updates I had done recently. I've tried reloading SFC fresh(3 times) with the beta patch. I've tried replacing the NetR.DLL file with a previously working  replica.

I'm out of options. the only thing I haven't tried was reinstalling my NIC card.

For the Love of all that is sane in this reality please help.  If this has already been addressed maybe someone more senoir on this board could point me to the post.

Hey all... while I was searching through some of the past Posta about errors It came to me that maybe I should check my Vid card drivers.

When I was looking @ my Vid card settings I discovered it was using DirectX 8.1!!!!!

After Picking myself up off the floor(wondering how I was able to play a few games recently before updating) I Downloaded and installed the latest DirectX. And low and behold it fixed my troubles.

I guess everyone has bad mondays. It's just a pitty when they all line up and hit ya in the same week.
