I recently upgraded from Win98se to Win2000pro, did a clean install. Now I can't install SFC II !!!! I get the error message in the subject. Went to Interplays site but couldn't find information specific to this problem nor could I post a question to Interplay's support personel, just get an error message there too.Has anyone run into this problem? How can it be solved?

Yeah, I have tried to install from the cd's directory, didn't work . . . Interplay's site says to disable read ahead but their instructions seem to be for a different OS. Can this feature be disabled in Win2000? If so, how?

Did you get all of the Windows updates from the Microsoft web site? have you upgraded all of your drivers for your system, including the motherboard chipsets, graphic card, audio card, modem, monitor, CD-Rom/DVD, Etc... and also DirectX 9.0b.

Also suggestion for overall system performance, i would also go to Java.sun.com and get Java 1.4.2 SE as it replaces Microsoft Buggy Java code.. and also get Macromedia's Flash and Shockwave players.... none of these help SFC, but will help when web browsing.. a lot actually...

after updating your machine completely, Try copying your entire CD to the Hard Drive then running the install of SFC from the hard Drive....

Also you may want to consider shelving EAW and getting OP as it is now a MUCH superior game, and you can still put the EAW single player missions into OP as well as the bonus Sulu missions, plus all the fan created support for OP that EAW never got...

Thanks KBF, that fix worked. It's a bit of a pain battling with the other Win2000 bugs but at least I can play the game now!
