Ship Design Credits question
« on: October 04, 2003, 05:53:49 am »
Ok so my Black Elk is heavily influenced by Lances'  Bradbury and Hobbes' Diligent.  Basically its a merge of the 2.
However the design for the bridge, lower pod, nacels, struts are completely my own.  The saucer texture design was based off the diligent, I am reworking it some and the rest of the ships textures bare no resemblance to either ship.

So here is the meat of the matter. Do folks think it  OK if in the credits I say designed by me and influenced by the authors and ships I just mentioned?

Was thinking about this. Cause you know there are an aweful lot of ships with a saucer and 2 nacels,  yet if we have a new varient with a saucer and 2 nacels we usually don't credit the 1st person to make a ship with a saucer and 2 nacels.  As far as I know Lances' Bradbury was the 1st Fed ship with dual hulls.

Oh yah- I will be posting pics of it again    Most of you have seen it cause I posted before.  I just got a new video card so all my ships look at least 50% better now

It really comes down to did you use anything from them?
Looks close to is not an issue because everyone made a Enterprise and the only group they had to credit was Paramount. they all looked similar but only the orginal was credited. So if it just looks like something that a few ppl did is not an issue is it made for a picture or TV show ship then credit that shows makers. If you just made a ship from scratch and did not use parts from someone elses work then no they do not have to be credited. Credits are there for anything you used that someone else did.

you could always credit the people who influenced your designs, just because. (special thanks to..ect) Make an interesting paragraph on how you took those designs and ended up with the black elk? backstory on the design always seems to be enjoyed around here.
