Topic: Cant disconnect after playing SFC3 online (Read 2443 times)

It happens to me EVERY time i play Dinaverse 3: after i log out and
i exit to windows, i'm not able to disconnect from internet anymore:
the connection icon doesn't disappear when i select "disconnect" and
i cant shut windows because it says "terminating program connection *sometning*"
and when then says the program is not responding, and blocks on the desktop, without
any icon and without displaying messages anymore (not even ctrl+alt+del).
So i must reset my PC every time i play SFC3 online.
I must say also that this happens only with SFC3, so my question is: is this a known bug?
Has this happened to someone else? Any hints?

Which version of Windows are you using?

I would suggest you do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

Only do this once. Look at the tasks running in the taskmanager. If it is not XP end every task except System and Explorer.

In XP, look at the tasks, also look at the Processes. Delete unneeded tasks and processes.

Another alternative...unhook the internet. Just unplug it completely. It should register soon enough that you have unplugged, unless there is something seriously different about your system going on...at least I imagine so.

You could also go directly to the connectionwizard, as well as the internet connect without using the icon. If you don't have an icon, that might be a good place to start to see what exactly is going on.

I'm using Windows 2000 + Service pack 3, and my line is an ADSL.
The strange thing is that i changed my OS a couple of weeks ago and before, with Win 98 2nd Edition, all ran perfectly.
Do anyone knows which task/process exactly should i end?
And yes i've already tried with connection wizard and internet connection, but it doesn't change anything.

Directplay continues to poll the internet after SFC has shut down.
I'm not sure how to shut it down though. When I turn Zonelalarm on
after playing it catches directplay and will stop the network activity.

I had ZA installed till a few days ago, but i uninstalled it because i had to launch it and shut it twice otherwise i couldn't even login into Dyna3...your post can lead me to think that ZA messed with my connection procedure somehow...
