Asking for a little help
« on: January 17, 2004, 03:17:18 pm »
Ahh Brothers and Sisters

I come to you on a mission.. a mission of knowledge.

I would like to obtain knowledge on how to fix my GSA.

Some time ago, i finally broke my firewall proxy on a DSL Router.. (by trading it in for CAble modem)
and began to enjoy playing SFC on GSA again.
Well, after about 4 days on GSA, GSA asked me to upgrade to 1.4 ptach.
After installing the patch. i had a good run.. played 5 games in a row.
On the 6th game in GSA, right after the launch of a Game. A voice came over the Game, Although i never actually understood the message, i noticed i crashed out of the game.
Upon trying the 7th games launch after the patch.. i couldn't ever find the games on the Game list after launch.

This worries me dearly.

And i ask for help and knowledge to fix this problem.

Raniz

EDIT: this occured in SFC2 OP
with the  Stock shiplist
and 2.5.5.2 patch.

And now carried over to  OP+ 3.1 shiplist
and 2.5.5.2 OP patch.

EDIT2:
Computer things

AMD Athlon 1.4 thunderbird
Elite group AMD motherbaord (will replace this soon)
128+ DDR Ram
ATI Raedon 7000 32mb video
WIndows 2000 Professional OS
Soho ethernet network modem
Mediacom Highspeed Cable Motorola Modem

anything else you need for diagnostics?

Connect USB to your system and see if game play remains stable.. get rid of the ethernet cable.. the ethernet port on the modem will most probably have a built in router and as such could interrupt game play.

i can only hook up ethernet connection.. as my SoHO 2 year old network card only has that option. and Not USB.

as for my motherboards Network card.. i have never been a fan of onboard Sound, Video, or network cards.. so i choose not to use it.

Ahh and by looking at my Onboard network setup.. it only has Ethernet hook up compatibility as well.

Raniz,

I had problems today also after the Patch w/ Gamespy during the GAW tourney, As a matter of fact, the only way I wa able to play was by grabbing the Ip's of the contestants, and going through an IP game.

I think the problem might be on there end, seeing that you and I have the same problem.

So, your computer has no USB connections at all and your Cable Modem has no USB port?

Your network card would be bypassed (ethernet network card) in favor of system using USB Driver setup, so long as you have the Modem's driver disk....

this is how you eliminate the modem's built in router...

if your modem does not have USB, then I would suggest reconfiguring your port settings and making sure that XP firewall is turned off and checking your other system securities like Antivirus (should be disabled when playing) and firewalls for proper port settings as based on GSA's Help Section concerning port settings and Router / Firewall settings...

Also, your ISP may be making UPD adjustments and you may want to contact them.... they have been known to block ports on their end needed to play SFC online...

talk to them already.. they dont block ports intentionally and see no ports used to connect Peer to Peer blocks
Mainly
ports 6500
9000
are not blocked.

and i updated the first post with Computer things for your enjoyment for help.

BTW, My Installers will be ready for DL in just a couple of hours.. I'm uploading the last 3 now

so...

If you have an intrest or need for OP to be reinstalled, or if you just want to get features out of my installer, I am making 6 different flavors of the installer for the community designed for Dial-up and low spec systems in mind... as well as broadband and high end systems.. hopefully it will be good enough for the community..

glad to see ya back up and going on GSA again...
