Ooooo, a pretty. :) (Status of current releases)....
« on: September 25, 2003, 08:25:39 am »
Been a while since I've tried to just do a pretty instead of a release shot, so I tried one.  This is for Altair Star Cruises.

The ship is out being tested now, should see it in a day after KF takes it for a run around the block and back.  This is a port from Klingon Academy, and then illuminated by myself for SFC.  Two new cruise lines signed up as well.. Proxima Vacation Lines, and Taldren's new Spaceways line.

Status of other work is about where it was (except the Melak is I think 99% complete, it's just welding vertices now I believe).  Job hunting has taken a bit of a toll on free time..

(ps: Nannerslug, that new ship is almost done as well, just have to put on the engines).

Hey, that is a pretty ship! New and different for SFC.

She reminds me of those sparking rocketships from the old 1930s Flash Gordon serials, but in a good way.

So she's from the Klingon Academy game? I always think it's neat that we can have ships from other Star Trek games show up in SFC.

Good job, sir!

Do you mean it's a stock model from the game?

It's the Altair Star, a civilian warp liner.  It comes from one mission where you can blow it up and then get chewed out by Michael Dorn.    I just downloaded the original from the KA main site to compare, and it's the same ship alright..

Awesome idea, and good port, Atheorhaven! She's a nice one... I'd like to play that so that I can get victimized by the AI or something! LOL!

Actually, thank Klingon Fanatic for sending this to me and getting me on it.  This was done up to go into the "Doomsday Machine" script idea, so there's (at some point) going to be a script out using my damaged TOS Constellation kitbash, spacecadetglow's MDM resize and fix, and this liner for sure.

Not as nice as Atheorhaven's render but I like this shot of it from the SULU 4: End Game mission where you link up with the presidential liner and terrorists take over the Excelsior....

One of the things I'd like to see this used for is to recreate the FASA Scenario A DOOMSDAY LIKE ANY OTHER where a lone Chandley class has to consider using a luxury liner to defeat a Doomsday machine.

Thanks again to DarkMatrix for porting this over to begin with.

Thank you Atheorhaven for updating this fine ship.

Now we have an alternative to the STOCK XLUX aka Steve Jackson Games OGRE crossbred with a Factory with warp engines, LOL

Qapla!

Hmmm, can't tell in this shot, but is the upper arm warp strut windows and the big "W" window lighting as well?  If the whole ship is lighting normally, let me know, and I'll release it...

(ps: for everyone's FYI, I've also created two additional cruise lines for this ship, "Proxima Vacation Lines" and "Taldren Spaceways".

You know...That damned ship should be turned upside down...it would look cooler having a keel...then a vertical stabilizer

Sure sure... make me work harder.

(Work faster Modelling Slave!  There's another 200 more ships to crank out before you get breakfast!).

If the textures aren't that hard to rearrange and make look good, then I'll give it a try...

Oh my Gosh.. the one and only time I disagree with Azel? Have I gone mad?

Would you just resave the upside down one? I rather fancy it as it was.... but that s just me.

Well, seeing as I've not heard from KF about any problems with the Liner, I'll declare her ready to ship out..

http://www.themackiestuff.com/atheorhaven/html/userfiles/ships/trek/sfc2/ka_liner_sfc2.zip

And the Okinawa is complete as well

http://www.themackiestuff.com/atheorhaven/html/userfiles/ships/trek/sfc2/F-FF-Okinawa-Gany-DTW-AT.zip

And two in the works:

Retexture of the Excellentia (someone asked a while back):

And the first of Nannerslug's kitbash requests, the Niagara

Also waiting on permission for a conversion of something from Armada to SFC...

The Melak should be up for download tonight as well.  It's complete as she's going to get.

You don't know the half of it.. in addition to all this, in meatspace I'm also rebuilding the water pump today on my van, plus my wife is running a tavern tonight for our local medieval recreationist society. So the van needs to be driveable in order to get the groceries and booze, to cook the food, to start the tavern so I can serve drinks to people in funny clothes.

Alec,

Well done. Sorry I have had pneumonia so my postings have been sporadic at best... I'll be on my death bed one day though STILL trying to post, lol

No problems noted with the luxury liner, I've been VERY HAPPY with it!

Nice job on the Excellentia, I can't wait to see more of it.

Thanks for the update on the Okinawa too!

Nanner didn't want knox's niagara? Or is that the one? Nanner, I believe I have a decent one with ambassador nacelles as weel if you want it. 256*256 textures though.
