Updated Ftrs&PFsOP
« on: September 20, 2003, 12:52:40 am »
The singleplayer campaigns are finally fixed. You can now Select and fly tenders and carriers for all the races, including all the pirates, as well as change out/replace the fighters and PFs in the campaigns as well as skirmishes. I've also added the ships and fighters from modules R10 and J2. The mod is now packaged with an installer with an uninstall option so you can switch it out with other mods you might have.

Thanks to SFU for hosting it for me.

Check out the homepage.

Hey......It seems I am not allowed to D/L this mod without subscribing to fileplanet. I refreshed my browser about 12 or so times and never got the familiar old public servers. Is there an mirror of this somewhere?

Thanks a lot. I'm glad that you like it. Your models work real well with it. I just finished Dling the rest of them that I didn't have yet. It helps me see SFC the way that I envisioned it in the first place.

I only get 26.4 most of the time. Rarely, when the moon and stars are in perfect alignment, I get 28.8. I live out in the country. There's no dsl or cable available. My only opt. would be satellite, and that's just ridiculously overpriced. ($80/mo.) It's 40mi. to the ISP and there's only one Ph.# that's not LD for my whole area code. That's the price for living on the lake and being able to go fishing everyday without having to even get in my car, never mind trailering my boat anywhere

Really! I was under the impression that 28.8 was the minimum? I've never even tried 'cuz of that. Sounds like I should at least check it out. As a newbee, I'd be good cannon fodder, I'm sure.

WOW! I am having a BLAST with this mod! Thank you!

I did make a few model changes though, LOL.

When Captain KoraH?s mod comes out I will make some further changes to the models I use.

Please tell me you are going to ADD Tholians [Replace OrionOrion] and Andromedans [Replace OrionWyldeFire] in your next update. (Engine doubling, smendling bubbling! I want my AI bad guys with TEETH!)

GAW stuff:

Fixed GAW Andromedans and fixed Tholian Fighter:

http://208.57.228.4/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB11&Number=185976&Forum=UBB11&Words=GAW&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=2weeks&Main=184318&Search=true#Post185976

The Tholians have a shuttle, fighter [BOTH by Hollis J. Wood retextured by me in Klingon Academy colors] and a Taldren stock ?GAW? fighter {I use as my Heavy fighter]. We have HIGH POLY conversions of the Klingon Academy Tholians and some fine kitbashes by Terradyne [as well as his site: [ www.terradyhne-yards.de ] here:

http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~sfc/files/pafiledb.php?action=category&id=1&start=0&sortby=name

If you do a search for Andromedans [Kitbashes by DarkMatrix of P81?s Cobra and Imposer] and Klingon Academy Tholians you?ll see there are now enough models to fill out these two sides.

Please forgive my enthusiasm. Well done.

I hope you don't think that I use the stockers in my own game.

I definitely want to replace some of the pirates with more SFB races. It'll probably be a little while though (not too long) until I finish a couple of other projects that I'm working on. To be honest, I've been working on this for over a year now and I need some diversity to save my sanity.
As far as which pirates I'm going to replace and where I'll put the new races goes, I'm not sure... I was actually thinking of replacing the Korgaths with the Tholians since the Tholians occupy Klingon space in SFB. The Andros could go inplace of the WyldeFire, as you suggest, they did attack the ISC first. The other location I had thought about is in the TigerHeart slot. The Andros completely annihilated the LDR. Some believe that there are still some renegade Andromedans in LDR space. I guess that it would depend on when the mod occurs, before or after Operation Unity.
As far as engine doubling goes, I can disable engine doubling for any race or ship. The Tholians, for example, shouldn't have it at all.

I'm pretty sure that I have all of those. I also have Anduril's Andros and Brezgonne's Tholians for the TOS. Desty Nova's gonna have some new stuff as well.

On the contrary, I'm really glad that you took the time to respond. It makes it worth while. Especially coming from someone who's as involved in the game as you are.

WISH LIST:

1. A race/String file that matches the race selector with the races in game. I still can't seem to get it right myself, lol. E. g.,  Andromedans = Andromedans (replaces Cartel Here)

2. MORE andro specs (if possible) they are powerful but there's not much diversity so far. Cloak = DisDeV, TRBL, TRBH, [non-regenerative?] Shields (few labs) and armor for PA Panels.... Could Andros have been forced to cannibalize weapons from enemy ships if they were trapped in enemy territory and cut off from their support? E. g., An Imposer with a Lyran ESG is that even possible? I dunno since I never played SFB...

3. Tholians, my choice is OrionOrion because I like Korgath as an opportunistic pre-Duras type house and that keeps the Tholians in line with you against the Klingons in SP games and occassionally hostile

4. Mirror Universe Terran Empire, I copied the Feds and moved them to the Syndicate Slot; they make a nice diversion from fighting the Romulans. I can't seem to get the ship schematics to show up in the ship selection screen though. The Shipname string all I did was change the F- to S- and get rid of the Syndicate and paste the S- Fed ship names there.

5. I wish the Wyn and Camboro used a pirate slot just for diversity sake....

I think these additions will give me the "Grand Unified Shiplist" I have been looking for without having to paste three different shiplists together.

Forgive my mad, blasphemous, non-SFB player rantings.

It's doubtful that the Andros could have made use of galactic weapon systems. One of their greatest failings was their lack of adaptability. While other races were developing new and better technologies like X-Tech, the Andros remained pretty static(not completely though). Not to mention they were never particularly well-suited to handling certain aspects of fighting galactic races anyway, like getting swarmed. Anyway, one odd thing to note is that the Andros did adopt mauler technology after they arrived in our galaxy. It is unknown if they somehow got this from the Romulans, or if it's a weapon that is merely functionally similar to one that they already had(this is a similar case with their 'phasers'; they are not technically phasers but they are similar enough in operation to be approximated by them).

By the way Rod, are you gonna be adding MWPs to your mod when you do the Andros?

I think that originally ADB said that the Andros copied Rom tech with the mauler. As things progressed I think they decided to keep Andro and Galactic tech totally seperate and incompatible. Mixing it would have created impossible balancing issues. That's when they said that they didn't know if it was acquired technology or possibly the Andros developed it on their own. Without pulling out the "Andromedan Order of Battle", if memory serves me correctly, Dominators arrive in this galaxy with Terminators already as part of their standard SatShip complement. They also have an incredibly low allowed build rate for Terminators. They're allowed to convert Cobras to Terminators only to replace destroyed ones and then only at a rate of one a year, or something along those lines.

MWPs(mobile weapons platforms) are fighters with real internal systems like a ship (batteries, warp, PA panels, etc...). Well that will have to be a real approximation. SFC doesn't give you internal systems for ftrs and that's the only hull type that could be used. The only thing that I can think of is Ph2 armed fighters that are speed 31 with lots of damage pts. I'm sure that something could be made that would give some resemblance of MWPs, at least tactically, to add to the racial flavor factor. Nothing else works exactly the same in SFC as SFB. So, why not? Everything in an Andro mod would have to be done like that anyway.
