Newb Campaign question..
« on: September 09, 2003, 02:18:15 pm »

Wow, I can't believe how it's all coming back to me (tactics and rules).  I was never great to begin with but I didn't suck that bad.

Here's the question.

I've been playing the SP campaign as the Federation on Captain difficulty.  The Campaign, at least in the box I bought, did not give a lot of detail as to what exactly I'm supposed to be doing.  I have lots of prestige points and an alright ship that I've been booting around with getting the hang of the controls, the rules, stuff like that.  Is there anything more than ambush, convoy, defend the shipyard, scout, deep space encounter, and monster? (I think I saw a data transfer once...).   Now, I'm not taking a lot of space while I do this...cause I'm figuring things out.  But I'm wondering if I'm missing something?  Is there some kind of primary objective I'm working?

For those of you thinking "just forget SP and to to MP", yah yah I know already.  I'll bein there like a dirty shirt when I get more comfortable to how things play out in the game.

Thanks in advance.

The current patch is 20.36 and can be obtained from any number of places. Before installing the patch save a copy of this script "uni_7battlegrave.scr" from  C:\Program Files\Taldren\Starfleet Command II\Assets\Scripts. Patch to 20.36 and replace the patched version of the .scr with the one you saved pre-patch.
As for the campaign, I believe you should be playing "federation vs ISC. If so , there is a story that goes with the campaign. If you are playing a generic conquest campaign, you probably have seen it all.
The hot multiplayer campaign is SS2 and is being played on Orion Pirates. If you enjoy EAW and want to play more, I highly recommend you get a copy of Orion Pirates.

Ohhhh ! ! !  STARDATE  2036 . . . .

Quote:

This time system adjusts for shifts in relative time which occur due to the vessel's speed and space warp capability. It has little relationship to Earth's time as we know it. One hour aboard the U.S.S.Enterprise at different times may equal as little as three Earth hours. The stardates specified in the log entry must be computed against the speed of the vessel, the space warp, and its position within our galaxy, in order to give a meaningful reading.

This explains so much more about the patch situation
