It's great to have you and your stuff back with us. Just DL'd the Bonnie. It's almost 4:30am in Texas. I'm glad that I couldn't sleep tonight. Sometimes, insomnia has it's benefits
The model's really nicely done. Texturing might be the best I've seen on an TOS (pre-TOS?) Fed. The intakes on the nacelles came out real nice and I especially like how you did the windows with the look of something in back of them and the recessing. Im definately looking forward to more goodies from you.

Thank you all, and here are my classic TAS freighters, the Huron and the Sherman, re-released with the new intakes. Might as well standardize my fleet, eh?

All three went straight into my models folder, I'll probably just keep the Bonaventure to gawk at (it's one pug-fugly mofo) but the Sherman and Huron will go in alongside the 2263 versions you did before, though I'll have to put the dull red bussards on the older Huron as it currently has the bright swirly ones off the 2267 constitution

Wow! Looks like she just flew off the screen and into my computer!

Excellent work.

BTW: The episode "The Time Trap"-was the one where the Enterprise discovered a bunch of old ships, including some trapped Klingons? It's been a long time since I've seen the show. I won't say how many years though...

Great lookin' stuff, bud!

Hopefully, you'll find that the @$#%#$*#%'s who were causing all the problems last year when you hung up your hat are gone and no longer around. We've pretty much mellowed around here, and if the idiot LightDrone shows up, feel honored, because he only attacks the good looking stuff.

Can't wait to see more of your stuff, and great to have you back.

Hey A... just wanted to let you know that you'd actually inspired me to do two of my own meshes when I couldn't find yours.

My own TARDIS (on my site) and my own Red Dwarf (still unreleased because I have to fix some serious smoothing problems I'd like to get fixed before I put it out there).  Couldn't find yours, wanted these ships, then still wanted these ships, wanted them some more, fumbled around in anim8or/3dsMax, did more fumbling, things started to work, got the meshes together, and then got the ships done.    Thanks to you, I'm now a modeller ya bum.. (grin).

This is just a question, but have you any plans for other non-Trek meshes?  And have you sources for other Doctor Who or Dwarf ships?  (Just curious because I know I was hoping to add some more from each show myself).

Whoa!  I'd forgotten all about the ADB statements about Warp and Combat@Warp... Great Catch!

"Balance Of Terror" has always been one of the best of TOS episodes, along with "The Doomsday Machine".  The 'class' of WarpDrive makes everything fit without circular logic or contradiction (even thought continuity wasn't at the top of the list of TOS production staff).  Thanks for reminding me!

And 'welcome back' - even though you never left, as your continued posting shows.  You are one of the SFC faithful, and I raise a salute to you for it!

Erm, did it never occurr to you that they're mapped to a white texture, possibly because they're meant to be white?

They are infact mapped, on HULL.bmp = there's a small white rectangle next to the deflector - that's where it's mapped and they're meant to be white.

Yeah, they're mapped although they're perhaps a bit too garish now that you mention it. IMO I think those are huge transporter emitters of some type, because presumably it would unload its cargo onto a planet via transporter.

I thank you.

First of all I compliment your work because you are really good at this stuff. And, secondly, SFC is of some importance to me so when the master releases one it is a good day for me. I'm not sure what I will do with the Bonaventure yet as I am centering around TMP as middle era designs but I'll keep that one all the same. I've been around long enough to know a design like that could be the perfect model for some specification even though I havn't figured it out yet. For what it is worth... dude, you make great SFC models. And freighters are important! So thank you as I use yours for early era. Shoot I even had to split up specifications for a few because of how well you did those. Well done Mr. Atrahasis.

Yes, freighters and support craft are very important, they are the spice that gives a scene that extra something, IMO. Anybody can make a superbattleship, but can they make a convincing freighter? The Bonaventure would make a good scaled-down Galactic Survey Cruiser, just by looking at its design you can tell it's a contemporary of the Connie, and in the SFB dates the GSC is just that.

My website is re-filling itself out nicely, I now have some more classics up, the USS Detroyat, the SS Aurora, the DY-500, all with the new intake textures and a light blue engine glow in the aft exhaust.

Ok, just curious. I still need that bussard.

And I'll get these ported as soon as I have time. Don't know if I will nessecarily mod all of them (I mean, what in gods name would I do with a DY-500 besides  target practice?) But I'll make sure they are available as converted models anyway. The armed vessels and anything canon will likely get tossed into my tos supermod that will include schuttups ships and a couple mackie items as well, and probably a ton of fleetdock13 items for enemies.

23m then. Scaled the Destroyat to 132-134 somewhere around that. Seemed too look good acording to the Bonaventure on the chart. I wont do any pix now as I should be going to bed but later today I'll do some. Atra, I seriously hope you do all the DY-series.

Cool, got the new Detroyat, Aurora and DY-500, don't really know what to do with them as I don't wanna get rid of the old ones but need a place in the shiplist for the new ones

Atra - when you release the series constitution, will we see ships like the Detroyat and those other cruisers and destroyers like the Saladin and Coventry etc. redone in blue with the yellow bussards to be series versions aswell?

length overall 258.75
width overall 174.38
height overall 55 meters

Just a note: The Bonaventure and the Aurora are not scaled to their true sizes relative to the Connie/Detroyat, because they would be too small. I took some liberties and made the Bonaventure a minimum of half the size of the Connie, otherwise it just wasn't satisfying.

You do have your original Federation year 2220-2230 chart don't you? I have a copy in case yours is gone. It so belongs on your site.

I'm glad to see The Ark back in business. You and Anduril have such a place in this little community of ours that it doesn't seem quite right when The Ark and The Galactic Fringe aren't up. Thanks for bringing yours back.

That wont take long to fix. I scaled the bonaventure and DY's to what was on the chart. I figured the destroyat would be roughly 1/3 the size of the heavy ship so I looked for another ship around 140m or so and the size looked right. Oh well. That's why I save the max files before I export...

Oh, and as long as you seem to be dispensing all this ship info, what you got on starbases? Orbital office, regula one, ect.

one thing I notice that is seemingly a problem with all of these (the bona and destroyat for sure) is that the deflector dis appears nearly black ingame. They are supposed to be bright gold in color correct? Might want to look into that.

Well they look nearly black in the pictures at the top of this thread. The ships are a hybrid of the pre-TOS style ship Atra did a while ago with dull grey-green intakes and darkened bussards and the series TOS style, the only thing missing is certain hull colourations like the light blue hull and the gold deflectors.

I'd be pleased as punch to do so. If yer email address is good from your site it should be there. I also saved a number of your model posters for various ships you did so that I could identify the zips at a later time. Would you care for any of those as well?

If punch is an inanimate object how could it be pleased??? Ya gotta wonder how phrases like that got a start in life.

Atrahasis,

"Detroit" is French for narrow, or thin,,
Fort Detroit was built by the French, when New France existed,

The river that joins Lake Erie and Lake Huron, would be seen as
"a point of narrowing",

"une place donque la Lac se detroit"
"the place were the Lake narrows",

that is the origin of the name,

As far as the "DETROYAT",
that has nothing what-so-ever to do with French,

ask Bernard eh,

The Burke with the TOS engines is for the F-FF and the F-CFF (commando frigate), the other frigate variants like the F-FFG and the F-FFD I plan to put those square engines on the burke in a few days.

Thanks for converting them to BC, Starforce, those screenies are bodacious!
