Hey Lestat!

Love your newest ships, especially the Excalibur bashes. Awesome ships that I downloaded like they were goin' out of style!

Ever considered kitbashing the Galahad? I've been pining for variants of her for a while now. I'm surprised more people don't work off that ship.

She is a kitbash herself and seems like a prime candidate for variants similar to what you've done.

On another note: are you familiar with the Solaris Class (not the one on Rogue's site) but the one that appears in "Jackill's Starfleet Reference Guide (volume 2 I think)? In any case, it's the volume that has all the Excelsior variants.

It's one ship that has been overlooked far too long. She's a variant of the Excelsior, but with a configuration that looks more like a further evolution of the Constitution Class.

Anybody else know what I'm talking about? She has an Excelsior primary hull, with a streamlined, curving secondary hull, very long pylons and Excelsior engines. Really attractive in my opinion.

You mean this one? Personally I don't find it that appealing myself, it's rather ugly IMO, the secondary hull is way to small and looks far to organic to be mated to the Excelsior components. Practicality wise at present I couldn't do it in M6 and as I am just starting to mess around in Max (got it off a friend recently) I really have no skill in that and wouldn't be able to create such a complex organic shape. Also even if I could make it I'd probably want to wait untill a new Excelsior comes along as I usually work with high/mid poly models and don't particularly like the only one that I know of - P81's last version as it is quite riddled with inaccuracies and I've really grown to dislike the excessive bump-mapping he was so fond of.

I have the Galahad in my inventory actually - my models folder is so big the computer nearly hangs trying to open it and I'll have a look at what I can cook up from it.

BTW the 'variant' as Rogue has it listed of the Dalmazia is actually the proper version as I intended it and is not meant as a science ship, it is actually additional storage for munitions i.e. torpedos and is only dumped as a decoy (kinda like the Galaxy seperation) or if the ship needs to escape a battle-scene quickly as it adds quite a lot of displacement to the ship so removing it would improve the ships manoeuvrability or slightly increase it's top speed. Oh and the stories of the 2 ships were Rogue's creation not mine, I'll have to come up with something myself - no offence to Rogue but I'd like them to have backgrounds that I'd written.

Yeah, that's the one!

Hey, you may may not like 'er but I think she's got some "curves".

I do agree on one of your points, that being the secondary hull is too small. I've actually seen another version of this ship in an old fanzine which look slightly better, but still the same overall curved look.  I think someone besides me and the designer wouldn't mind a model of her. Someday perhaps...but thanks for posting the pic! I guess you have that Jackill volume. I love those books and all those others I've collected over the years. Before we had the Internet, really good computer games, etc., we had these books and I have every volume I ever bought still sitting on my bookshelf.  Jackill's Guides, Ships of the Star Fleet, Starfleet Prototype, Starfleet Design, FASA guides, and many more!!!

And thank you very much for looking into the Galahad. I feel like I've been the lone fan of this ship. Some have mentioned her textures are blurry, but I see an overall design that is simply beautiful!  And I know what you mean about folders being huge. My computer practically freezes when I go into 'em. I plan on buring most of 'em to CD soon. And then I'll have to delele from the hard drive. But man, I get scared every time I do that! CDs are great but there's something about the hard drive that feels better...more secure or something...

The Dalmazia is a great ship, not matter what her bio says. She's got the "x" look and fits just right into the SFC universe. I have no complaints. (and I never thought she looked like a science ship anyway)

Actually I got that image straight from www.shipschematics.net. Those manuals are a bit before my time, I was like 2 when TNG started in '87 so I didn't even know about ST untill TNG was finished  and Voyager was starting.

BTW I don't know what people are on about - the Gallahad textures are all 512*512 and some of them are the same ones that are on my Cyrenaica and Dalmazia. Anyway I'll definetly have a look at what can be bashed from the Gallahad.

Oh and I shall have to get the Istria and Eritrea (2 more X-ships) out aswell.

Man, did I I just dated myself! I'm actually a 97-year-old great-grandfather who first found out about Star Trek when I finally traded in my covered wagon for one of them horseless carriages. I asked the dealer how fast it was compared to Ol' Long Face, my horse, and he said "warp speed, my friend". I asked, "how fast is that?". He said, "Don't you watch Star Trek?" The guy's name was Gene Ruuden..., Gene Roddle..., Gene something. Anyhow, the rest is, as they say, history.

BTW, I thought you'd already released Istria and Eritrea? Or is my senility back again?

ROFL no I didn't the shots I posted were WIP but the Eritrea will be pretty much as you saw her in the WIP shots but with a name and registry, the Istria I think needs some work.
