...
now (post beta patch) i can't connect to the dynaverse. never get past the  direct host part. so there is another of the 3 mp options that i have to live without.

Since there are many people playing on the dynaverse including me, it seems that there may be an issue with your ISP service that makes it more difficult. Something that you cannot control.

I would say this because I also sometimes get stuck at DirectPlay Test. I just go back to the previous screen and then immediately back into the server I'm trying to get in. I always have been able to get in on the 3rd try. This is something for you to try.

For me personally, this week I have gotten in on the first try without no problems.

And are you saying that with the beta patch you cannot play MP on GSA with anyone?

Its working out great for me, except disrepute still for not being albe to enter a battle (I will go on about this for some time, just my nature ala Scoprion pt II). OBVIOUSLY they released the patch as a Beta, because they couldnt fix and find all of the problems so easily on there own. YOU DONT HAVE to try it, if you do its not GUARANTED to work perfectly. If they had released this as a final version I wouldnt be happy, time to go over to the Beta patch bug report forum and explain what where when why and how.

Peace out

I recommend a complete SFC3 uninstall/reinstall prior to installing the patch if you havn't done so. Previously installed mods may cause problems, I've found, so even deleting the Activision folder prior to the reinstall may help. Don't forget to save your mods/models if you don't have them backed up.

I've tried the patch without the reinstall first, and encountered a lot of the same problems. It cleared up after the uninstall/reinstall.

This is a BIG BIG tip for all.
There are many popular mods out there.
Especially with all these unhanlded exceptions some of you are receiving.
I have never received any of these unhandled exceptions thus far.

So far, the patch has worked fine, but they still haven't fixed the most annoying bug on the game. (at least it is when your trying to test out a mod). Whenever you play Conquest Mode, save your game, and reload at any time, straight away, or the next day, the stardate stops advancing, it freezes. All ships stay in the same spot, you get no more ships being produced in the shipyard. Basically, you have to start again. Now THAT is annoying.

i've seen at least one other  person post that they can't get past the directplay test after the patch. pre patch, every once in a great while i had to go back a screen, sometimes more than once, and come back to get past directplay. but that was rare, and i always was able to get through. now i can't at all.

and as  for gsa, i've never been able to get past the "insert correct  cd" problem. i haven't heard of anyone else having this problem. i've tried every fix i could find.  but i have resigned myself to missing out on gsa play. it really really sux.

I have had no problems after one night of D3 on GFL-4 corners.

WinXP, Directx 9, cable modem

For those having problems, you really should post in the Beta Bug forum. Include as many details of your setup as possible.

-got attacked by AI and had no accept button so I auto-forfeighted (really a pain in the GFL map where you start with 50 pp)

Same here, on GFL last night.  Might be some kind of setting with the server itself?  I had an accept button but then another player flew in to help me.  As soon as he attacked the AI that was attacking me, a "Decline" button popped up for the player, and my "accept" button disappeared, I only had a "Forfeit."  I waited to see what would happen, sure enough I auto-forfeited and lost PP.

Not sure if this is a bug or maybe something to do with the server settings...???

Other than that I haven't had most of the problems with disconnects or "stuck" or whatever, seems much more reliable to me.

The patch seems to have solved a great many things, I don't play online so the D3 problems don't concern me.  But the inclusion of the borg missions are a big    1 problem which is annying is the bug ehen you take a planrt it remains neutral even though you can reload etc,

I installed it, I couldn't get passed the directplay test host. After several tries I was allowed to log on without it & even then none of the servers let me in. Subsequently I deleted it, re-installed SFCIII & will wait for the full patch. I got Splinter Cell the other day anyway so I have something to pass the time.
