Extra or Custom Weapons

I have been toying with Atheorhaven's studly Shadow models, tweaking them a hair to my liking; resizing, etc. They ought to make pretty hefty AI's in my personal conquest campaign when done.
The big theory question is- before I "experiment' more, and botch things up AGAIN, is it possible to make a XIV (or whatever) phaser with a different texture, that would show up only for this race of AI? You know, give them their own weapon that shoots for little extra damage, and most importantly, has a different texture... that purple laser or whatever they shoot, there on the show.
Anyboy figure this possible? In the Weapons.gf, can I add a new weapon, totally renamed; or.. make a Myotronic Beam2, with "Unavailable for Refit" on it?
Heck if that'd work, I'll give little ones the Myotronic Beam2, and give that Battlecrab a Myotronic Beam3... with 18 damage! POW!

If you are talking about SFC:2 or SFC:OP then your awnser is no but, you can put new textures on them and rename the weapons.

Retexturing the phasers is not possible though, to my knowledge.

Atra the answer is a Yes and no.

Any change to the phaser texture effects them all.

Yes its true- I have seen Pelican alter the Cutting Beam- probrbly intended for just one of his extra races, but it came out from all ships using the Cutting Beam... I imagine good Pelican knew this already however- jsut a little example..

Any modifications to the phaser texture affects them all in all SFC Versions. It is deeply hardcoded in the game's executable file

First, how do I change the phasers and secondly are the Phaser-4 and Gatling Phasers affected? In EAW-OP. Thanks in advance.

Reverend  in SFC3 the weapons are hard coded and none can be added. The cutting beam texture can be altered for sure. I think the bmp is even called cutting beam.  In SFC2 you could give them the g2 phaser. That is purple I think op has the g3 phaser that is much heavier than the g2. OF course other ships have g2s. So if you wanted it uniuqe to the shadows you would need to replace the g2's on the stock ships with say ph3's.  The HYdrans use g2's and a few fed ships for missle defense. Namely the Fed BB and possibly DN's

Yeah, that was the kick-a$$ thing about SFC2.. you make any ship you liked to add real customized.... I gave the Borg I had added to SFC2 the PPD, and upped their power.... made them pretty rough after that.

Reverend, you might want to try my FMSE made Borg Attack script.. multiple maps, designed for GSA play, using SFC 2 EAW.. custom shiplist included for the Borg ship I entered plus i also added the model for the Borg ship.. this is the one script I made for TIGC campaign for GSA...

you can also access it single player by clicking Multi-player, host, then select mission and set up like GSA.. you can do all missions that way that are made for GSA...

however, like I said, it was for EAW.. i would love for someone to redesign it for OP, however there is no FMSE for OP. I would love to add Maulers to the Borg ship... Currently it has 4 PPD for cutting beams, lots of Disruptor 4's a couple Phaser 4's a few Phaser 1's lots of defensive tractors.. and can charge all weapons at speed 31 while still reinforcing shields and having ECCM and ECM at full. i was attampting to recreate the borg superiority..

it is vulnerable to massive missle attacks and fighters...

anyone here care to make it for OP for me? I would much appreciate it.. I can not find a copy of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 or Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 anywhere, and I do not purchase online.. security is too fragile at the moment with all the viruses running about.

Thank you Pestalance, I sure did try out your Mod- it was a lot of fun.... I have been fiddling with SFC3 lately, and haven't done much with 2 or OP recently. I too added about the same spec to the Borg ships that I had added in OP- I replaced the Syndicate ships with the Borg, and it make the map a lot more entertaining, certainly.. afterwards, I had begin to unconciously avoid that area of space when flying around bored... lol!
