U.S.S. Directorate - Federation Class Dreadnought
« on: August 30, 2003, 01:02:24 am »
The first of the big guns in the TMP update series, the U.S.S. Directorate is my rendition of the refit Federation class Dreadnought, though not exactly like the original design and a bit more distinctive.

Incidentally, the America variant of the Constitution class (which someone mentioned recently) can be easily made using the 'double-ended' torpedo launcher off of this puppy should any of the kitbashers have about 2 minutes of free time (that bloodsucking twit Lestat maybe? )

Hi Wicked Zombie
Very nice variation on a theme. Looking forward to seeing more come down the line. Have you thought of doing a Transport Tug that can be converted to a Battle tug with those fantastic parts?

"How can the Federation preach the virtues of peace and coexistance when they are fielding WARSHIPS such as this? The USS Directorate and the USS Lexington are signs of a MASSIVE Federation build up. There can only be one purpose for a military buildup such as this. The Federation is preparing for war! Peace? There will be no peace as long as the Federation continues to field warships of this magnitude! The Romulans are no better, they are believed to be building a fleet of  MELAK Warbirds that are state-of-the-art 'pocket' dreadnoughts. Now I ask you, are we going to sit here and DO NOTHING to bring our fleet on par with the mighty Federation who intends to cross our borders, crush our fleets and plant their flag on Qo' Nos?"

Don't worry General Raast Molkatha, we're sending some people to assasinate you as we speak, although I wouldn't worry about the Romulans fielding any Melaks any time soon, it seems they've been having continuous setbacks for a number of years with that design

Re: the Dirctorate W00t! Really it looks a lot better than the 'canon' Federation class (I've recently been informed you can see it in STIII but I've never spotted it, oh well another excuse to buy the DVD) especially the 2 main nacelles, on the original schematics they're mounted flat across the hull and look really fugly Looking forward to blowing some ISC DNs up with this baby. (no good 'big' Klingons to blow up yet)

Oh and yeah I'll make up an America for ya, but the only problem is the America needs the Phase II style impulse engines, I hate them anyway so I'll ignore them Oh I've also made a CVL and CVS using your Connie and a drone destroyer and scout using your Saladin model, mind if I release them when I put out the connie retextures and the drone cruiser?

Bernard - I hadn't thought about doing any tugs yet as I've still got a few more 'main' ships to work on but they don't exactly take a warp field specialist to build so I might get to them eventually.

DonKarnage - Yes, there are phasers on the side of the hull along with a few more on the bottom. You can get it and all of my other ships at Demon Renegade Studios and for all SFC versions.

Lestat - Yeah, go ahead and release 'em, you should know the whole routine for kitbashes by now anyways.

Thankyou again WZ, I know the drill but I just believe in being polite and telling people what mutilations of their work I'm making

The America looks kinda sucky (no pun intended) I don't know if anyone will want it but I suppose if one person downloads it then it's worth it.

TVL, with the "Klingon Saber Rattling" going on, we could really use those carriers. Are you gonna add a "tunnel deck", a la SFB to make the CVS?

PS: Thanks WZ for all the work and new ships. They're 1st class examples, as always.

Well the Archangel and Dakota should be joining the fleet soon (nice work to the authors) I haven't seen the SFB CVS actually, I was just going by the stats for SFC that say - 'more torpedos' I'm not sure if I can make a 'tunnel deck' if you mean have the inside of the shuttlebay showing all the way through but I could delay it untill I figure out how I was thinking of using the expanded secondary hull of this new Federation class to make a variant of the SFB style BCG but I don't really know right now, still gotta finish those 3 X-ships in the works.

a retarted question: those renderings; shadow maps or basic raytraced shadows?

DK - I don't have any plans for TOS era ships as I think that's best left to experts like Schtupp, Stresspuppy, and Anduril. I do however intend to make a few smaller ships from my Constitution model.

Mackie - Those aren't raytraced or mapped, they're simple normal shadows produced by a few randomly placed omni lights in 3ds Max.
