and your avatar is showing up as a blank box with a red X in it when your off line... and most probably when your online as well since you logged off.

D'ball, you might want to clear your cache and check again. I'm not seeing anything but a missing graphic on your avatar. I don't think that will work.

Well since I can't see it either it must only be showing to you. That beggars a good question though - on those other forums does the avatar disappear when I log off or does their server make a copy for all to see? If it is the former, I can see why they don't use it here as it is worthless to anyone but the user. hmmm.

It's probably because you have access to your local drive and the rest of the world doesn't.

Thanks,

You know, I probably do, but to be honest I wouldn't know the first thing about finding it. I suppose I should call my ISP and find out.

No. This forum doesn't seem to be copying avatars, they are kept as links to the outside.

what dave meant is you can type "file:///C|/picture/avatar.gif" which refers to a local file and is viewable to the user only.

Where is a good site to get avatars? Also a good site to upload them to?

Also, Paramount's Star Trek site has alot of good images that could be used as avatars.
