Perhaps according to an internet dictionary, if one exists, this thread does not meet the discription for the word "spam". I called it spam because it was the closest description I could think of. What would you call createing an identity and starting a thread with the sole purpose of linking to a site off this forum? Why would we want to go to this site when the author hasn't posted on ours before?

And as for being an "ignorant," personal attacks on complete strangers are definately not welcome here.

WTH? This guy is asking people to join an  SFC3 related game. Seems to me he's trying to come up with new and unique ways to enjoy a game he purchased. How is that spam, especially on a forum  dedicated to that game? Just 'cause it's not something you would want to do?

Get a clue.

Actually everyone.....  SPAM (in the FORUM sense of the word) is used primarily to describe senseless OOC posts whose sole purpose is to increase the post count of the individual.  This is much different than what E-mail users interpret as SPAM.

Example: If I was to spam this thread, I would have responded with something like :   "Right" or "OK"

Thats it, one word, easy post. Increase my forum post count by one in a matter of a second.  Some forum members (maybe not this particular forum) feel that having a huge post count gives them credibility, seniority, and an overall feeling of self-importance.  Obviously, people who do this typically lack social skills and a general understanding of real importance.

However, having said all this, there is nothing "SPAM" about this thread.  Yes, you have someone advertising for their own interests here. But, since these interests are specific to the nature of these forums, it is completely welcome.  Also, many people have made similar posts :ie> Clan War, Clan Recruiting, Come play on _____ server (you fill in the blank). All of these kinds of threads are relative and pertinent to the SFC3 community, and thats what we're all here for.

Stormwalker, you were way off in your accusation that this thread was spam.  Also, being that it's posted in the SFC General topics section, you could have simply chose to ignore the message if you deemed it as unwanted solicitation.

I believe that an apology is in order here.

There, now everyone.......GROUP HUG!

Now I think Stormwalker requires a definition of "Ignorant" since he sees it as an attack for me to imply that he is ignortant.

Stormwalker, if any attack was made on you by me, then I do sincerely apologize. None was intended, although I did say that "I don't think Stormwalker knows what he's talking about." which was not meant to be an attack on you either, or maybe it was just a teeny bit malicious. I'm sorry if it offended you.

The word "ignorant", as most people use it, means the same as "stupid". This is a common error. Everyone with the intelligence to play the game this forum is about should know better, so here is my opportunity to educate you all. The word "ignorant" does not mean the same as "stupid". Ignorance is "not knowing" something. To be ignorant of terminology means that you don't know that terminology. Stupid, on the other hand, means something different. Stupid is when you  CHOOSE  to do something incorrectly, while in possesion of knowledge of how to do it correctly, or without trying to find out how to do it correctly.  Stupid is when you know better. Ignorant is when you don't.

Now, none of you are ignorant of the true meaning of the word "ignorant", because I just informed you.

But Activision is still stupid for not letting Taldren distribute their own patch, when they have been doing it for their own games since the late '90s without problems.

Stupid are the great masses of people who think the Space Shuttle was sabotaged by terrorists while at 200,000ft and traveling at mach 18.

Stupid is trying to use your cloaking device while playing on the Dynaverse3 against a human opponent.

Ignorant is not really that bad, although as many people are fond of reciting "Ignorance is no excuse."

LOL Nice post CK.  But people are often offended when the term ignorant is used in a general fashion.  It DOES mean stupid when the object of one's ignorance is not specified. While you are 100% right about the"true" definition.  That definition actually varies depending on the context of the sentence ( as with almost every other word in the english language.)
As an English major,  I can tell you that just about every english-speaking person on the planet will take offense to being called ignorant.  And to further break down the word... The base of ignorant is "ignore" .  Since "ignore" is an action, it follows that being ignorant implies choice as well.  Additionally, people typically use the word "ignorant" as if to imply that the facts which the so-called "ignorant" is unaware of, are common knowledge to someone else, thus inferring an accusation of inferiority.

You simply could have said that he was mistaken, thereby avoiding the whole situation.  By choosing to ignore the impact that your statement would have had on Stormwalker, that in effect has made you appear to be "ignorant" with regards to the "true" meaning of the word, "ignorant".

The Following Statements, HOWEVER....

.......are entirely, undeniably true!!!!

I'm sure there are many legal implications to who releases patches and when and how.  So, apparently you are ignorant to those issues, so you are free to go around calling people stupid.

You see? " Ignorant" is clearly used in a derogatory manner in the above sentence. But I'm sure that DaBoogeyMan meant no offense. (Right?)

Of course I meant no offense, it was correctly used in this case:
Captian Korah is ignorant of the legal implications of who, when and how control of the patches and other info is suppose to be released.  Ignorant, as in, he doesn't know!!!!!   Where did I lose you?!?!?!?

I prefer to use the term: "Uninformed".  This way IGNORANT people don't think I'm talking like an egotistical scumbag by calling them ignorant.   However, you WERE ignorant in thinking that you lost me. Or rather,  misinformed.
