Man for a first post, I have to appluad It. Thanks for the history of the General war.

Welcome to the boards BTW, and I hope you enjoy our quaint little family here.

One question always comes to mind, Why was It called the General War?

That's a good question, Sirgod. I suppose it could be because it plunged the entire quadrant, not just an isolated area, into years of war. That's my own hypothesis, anyway.

Whoa.

Let's have the rest!

That's it. The General War only went from Y168 to Y184, and the article doesn't cover any of the post-General War conflicts. Although, after the General War, we do have the Romulan civil war, a war involving the WYNs and the Kzintis, the ISC Pacification campaign, and finally the Andromedan invasion. ADB just hasn't written in-depth articles about them.

That history is an extract from a Captains Log published by ADB. There are other Captains Log's which embellish the history further. Obviously ADB want you to buy the other CL's and not download them for free.

There is also a lot of history written into the SFB scenario descriptions too.

For the record:
This document ("The History of the General War") came from:
http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/sfin/general_war.htm

I?ve never claimed to have written this article, I just wanted to bring it up to the surface so others can
enjoy it, like I did. I didn?t even sign it!

As far as the term ?general?, it refers to the fact that all of the majors races were entangled  in the
conflict in some way and thanks for the welcome.

;^)

Right, they're looking down from the Corner Office on the Executive Floor of their 44-story ADB Corporate Headquarters building in downtown Amarillo, snickering at all us poor dumb suckers, slaving away at our day jobs so we can fork over our hard earned pennies for their "product"....

Well, actually....

Here's everything you ever wanted to know about the Gorn, but were afraid to ask:

http://www.geocities.com/megaforcezone/g1.html

(it's all in big .jpgs, instead of actual text, there's an interesting form of copy protection...  it protects against anyone too lazy to type it out by hand...)

Ever heard of OCR software? With only one font, it should be a breeze. Also a good way to take notes if you're lazy.

Which brings us to:

Which brand of OCR do you feel is the current performance leader?

Xerox Textbridge, Caere OmniView, or Scansoft OmniPage?

I was impressed with Text Bridge Pro v9 but that was a year ago. before that I had been using the stuff that came with my scanner. It was was very frustrating and I  did just as well typing it myself and setting graphics manually. Try doing that with 660 pages of lesson plans, handouts and slides. With text bridge there are a lot fewer errors requiring retyping or resetting graphics it usually retains format and style while generating fewer erroneous hidden formatting symbols. Usually I just select all and change fonts and minor type os
