I found something that I want to try in order to try to smooth out the tranferrance process from gmax > .MOD

If I can get someone who has gmax and the Unreal (.MD3 export) plugin to post here and let me know, I have an idea that I want to try out.

May have found a better way to get things into Max.. that's why I need a .MD3 to work with.  Tried downloading some earlier on, but they're .PK3 format.. which isn't working.

PK3 is just a compression format, like .zip.  Rename the extension to .zip and use winzip to open.

Let me know if this works.  I would like to try to make my tmp gorns but cannot afford tools like lightwave.

If this works, not only should we be able to get in stuff from gmax, but also from Maya as well.

That's my hope at least..

Thanks to finding out that you can rename a .PK3 to .ZIP and extract it.. I'll be trying to convert over a couple of models I found in the Quake world as an experiment.

I would like to know what you find out. If Gmax could be more sfc friendly. I think there would be no stopping me .

Once I got past the learning curve I could start churning models out

Yup.. some.

Here's the thread that I'd posted over at SFC3.net.. (thought that I'd done so here as well, but maybe not).

This was a test and it sure did the job nicely.  Current status: waiting for a gmax mesh to come over from Sandman in the .md3 (Unreal) format..

Sorry Alec. Been working on my 1701-C and forgot all about this. I'll send you something tonight...to you want it mapped, or just send a plain mesh?

So far, it's not.. at least not the new process.  But I know why, and I'm going to try something different.  Sandman, expect email.. I have a better idea.
